~Why We Chose To Homeschool~ |
1- What is homeschool? It is like shoes. What do I mean? Well, shoes come in all sizes, and colors, but all serve the same purpose. Education is the same way. Some choose homeschooling, public schooling, private schooling, or even virtual schooling, but the goal is the same... we all want an education for our children and one that fits comfortably. Homeschooling is not just doing school work at home. It is a child being taught by a loving, caring parent or grandparent in some cases. A child being taught, one on one,in a comfortable environment by someone who really cares if the child gets it or not. A place that God is always found welcome! It's an environment without peer pressure problems, bad morals, violence,or dirty language. It is a child learning math, science, s.s, language and reading, but it doesn't stop there. They learn about love ,care, acceptance, discipline, respect, appreciation, confidence...just good morals and real life lessons. They learn how to handle family situations, run a house, dress appropriate, pay bills ,buy groceries, enjoy family, go to church, and live for God(Things they will need to know in the real world). Homeschooling is just doing what I've done all along, teaching my child what they need to grow into independent, productive, respectful adults. These are the things that public school seems to be lacking and could not provide. I was my child's first teacher. I taught them how to say their first words, how to set up, walk, brush their teeth, tie their shoes, ride a bike, etc. So should I just stop teaching and caring because my kid turned five and someone said that they could do a better job? I was doing just fine and enjoying being my child's teacher. Homeschooling is looking at every moment as a good time to learn something new. Not just reading books, doing worksheets, drills, and taking test. Sure we do work, but we don't stop learning after 8 hours. Most public school teachers feel that homeschool parents are not capable of teaching their child at home(So why do they send so much homework home?). Homeschool is a name given to mean a child doesn't attend a public school .To me homeschooling is simply helping my child learn to be an adult. 2-Is it legal? If it wasn't,It couldn't be done. All states have different laws. 3-Why homeschool? This may surprise you,but It has been proven that homeschool kids score 30% or higher on standard test than public school kids do. 4-Don't you worry your kids want fit in The real world? What is the real world? In the real world we work with people all ages,we all dress in what we like,we don't worry if we don't fit in,we live in neighborhoods with people of all colors, sizes, religions,we don't go to the movies every friday,we have maybe one or two close friends we see every week, but most of our friends we see only when we pass in the grocery store,or read about in the paper. Most of the ones we met in school have their on lives, they don't come around. Our lives are consumed with taking care of our spouse, kids, animals, paying bills, going to church,,and doing all those things that being an adult brings. Wouldn't it be nice to just be a kid again? 5- This is my favorite! What about socialization? What about it? Yes, my kids need to know how to socialize. They started doing that about age-2. I didn't have to send them to school to learn how to talk.. Socializing comes naturally. My kids do it too much. In public school a child is limited to socalizing with mostly kids their age, in their grade. When do they socalize? In k-3 they talk on the play ground, they whisper when the teachers not looking, they pass notes, talk between class for about five minutes, and after school on the bus(This is a great place to get sex education I found out). Some send their kids to school for the socialization but then get angry when their kids get a note sent home for talking in school or passing notes...hmmm Do I feel my child is missing out on these? Of course not! My kids socialize with all kinds of people, all ages, they don't get picked on for talking to little kids ,and they don't get left out by the big ones. One thing that bugs me most,is those parents who can't stand their child's friends. What did you expect when you sent them to public school? Those kids were strangers that your child was seated by .I bet you didn't even know the teacher or get to pick the teacher...you were just a number and got assigned to one. All those teachers and kids have different morals, up bringings, ideas, personalities, and beliefs.Did you expect your child to not join them? Homeschooling allows a child to be different and to be themself. Publc school teaches a child that they must be just like everyone else are be miserable and picked on for 12 years. Most kids learn bad/false things from their peers. Most kids learn about sex and experiment with it, because of peer pressure. Homeschool dosen't have peer pressure problems. Am I afraid my kid is being ruined by missing out on these? No way!!!!!! In our society today, socializing is one of our biggest problems.Turn on your tv. We would all be better off if we could learn to talk less and listen more. 6- Schools are dirty. Bunches of kids= Bunches of germs. Not only germs ,but head lice, etc. 7-Poor learning In school a child must learn each step at a set time and age, because a book said so. If a child fails to get it the first time ,they get passed over, fall behind and fail. Most teachers don't have time to spend with every child individually. If she has 20 kids or more and they have one hour for math, thats less than 3 min per kid .So wonder schools are failing. A child that feels like a failure leads to the problems we are having today, such as drugs, drop outs, teen pregnancy, violence, etc. 8.Schools are violent! Admit it, schools are dangerous. Just turn on your TV or read the paper and you will see. I know just in the last couple of years that it has happened over and over "ANOTHER CHILD HAS BEEN KILLED OR A GUNMAN GOES INTO A SCHOOL AND KILLS SEVERAL". 9.God is not welcome. This alone is enough for me. When God is not welcome in the world He created, it will fail. Public schools are failing and will continue to fail until God is put back in it. |
