Robert F. Austin Gilman b. Aug. 5, 1891 Adopted by Cornelius P. Gilman and Sophia Letitia Houston Gilman on June 1898

By 1891 Cornelius Pleasant Gilman had moved his family to Dyer county, Tennessee. Cornelius P. Gilman and son Robert Jesse(B.J.) were listed on the 1891 Tennessee State census. Cornelius being 46 years of age and Robert Jesse being 22 years of age. Cornelius P. Gilman also enlisted  on March 17,1862 in Richmond, Virginia to serve in the Civil War. He was taken POW on April 6, 1865 at Sailor's Creek, then sent to City Point, Virginia and then on to point Lookout, Maryland where he was held until his release on oath on June 5,1866.
