If Your Response to All of the Above is "None of the Above", Let's Talk it over and Come Up with a Unique Solution that will Satisfy Your Needs and Abilities, as well as Serve the Community. Outside of Medical Placements, Most Volunteer Positions will Fit in this Category, because Nearly Zero Organizations are willing to Train and Supervise Volunteers for Short Periods of Time, since it Ties Up Employeee Time and Ethnic Guatemalan's just have a Particular Way that They Like to See Things Done. I'm still trying to Find the Work Book. Hmmm . . .
Personally, I would like to See some Cottage Industry Established in Rural Communities, All the Way from Origami Bulk Napkin Folding to Jams, Jellies & Preserves and Snacks like Pop Corn and Sun Flower Seeds. By Integrating All Advances made in Various Areas of Experimentation and Study, Reasonable Efforts at Small Businesses can be Initiated during a Volunteer's Sojourn, Leaving the Community to Continue a Viable Source of Income, once You're Gone.
[Though NOT Forgotten !]
Since there Already Exists a Thriving Weaving and Garment Industry in the Highlands, a Credible Project would be to Work with Weavers and / or Tailors, according to Your Inclinations and Tastes; in order to Improve Techniques, Materials and Marketing Approaches. No One Here is Saying that You can't Make Money while You're a Volunteer ! In Fact, Establishing Business Connections wih the Highland Economy is Something that has Long been Needed Here. As One Momostecan Friend tells Me :
"There's Money Here, If You Know Where to Look."
So, Why NOT Make Money and Help the Maya Internal Economy ?
