Crafts
for Kids
It's important
to keep little hands busy, so here are a few fun and creative crafts for
the kids!
PAPER
BAG GIRAFFE
* Color the giraffe
* Cut and paste onto the paper bag for a puppet.
SUN
PAPER PLATE CRAFT
* Use a yellow paper plate, take yellow paper and trace your childs hand
approx. 7 times
* Glue paper hands to plate and glue stuff on for a face.
PAPER PLATE PUZZLE
* Take 2 paper plates, use 1 for your child to draw a picture on
* Once picture is done, cut picture into 4 or more pieces making a puzzle.
* Use your remaining
paper plate to put the puzzle together on.
HOMEMADE PLACE
MATS
* Collect Valentine's, birthday or Christmas cards that your children
receive.
* Have the children arrange the cards on the sticky side of an 11 x 17
inch piece of clear Con-Tact paper
* Cover with another piece of Con-Tact papter, sticky side down * Seal
the edges with a little strip of Con-Tact paper or clear packing tape
* Preserve the good wishes!
SHOVEL GIFTS
* Close a small bag of candy/goldfish/assorted treats with a twist tie
(small, clear bags can be found in the cake decorating section at Jo-Ann's)
* With a ribbon, tie the bag to the handle of a toy sand shovel
* Use a marker, fabric paint, paint pen to write your message at the base
of the shovel, just below the candy bag
* Good idea for b-day party treats, Valentine's gifts (write messages
like
"I dig you!" or "You've got the scoop on me!"), or stocking stuffers
STICKER BLINDS
* Clean the blinds to remove dust
* With blinds closed, stick "wallies" (wallpaper appliques) or stick-ups
onto a few places on the blinds
* Using a sharp X-Acto knife, cut the stickers between each slat, smooth
down the edges
* When the blinds are closed, you're treated to a neat theme; when they're
open, pure sunshine!
BUBBLE PRINTS
* Cover a table with a thick layer of newspaper, an old sheet, a plastic
sheet or do this project on the driveway
* In aluminum pie tins, blend 1 cup of bubble soap with 1/2 cup washable
kids paint
* Have the children blow into the bubble solution with a straw to make
a big mound of bubbles (for younger children, pierce a small hole halfway
up the straw with a pin; this will help prevent accidental swallowing
of the paint, but won't interfere with the bubble-blowing process.)
* Gently touch a piece of white copier paper or light-colored construction
paper to the bubbles, repeating until the paper is sufficiently covered
* Try printing one color over another for different effects!
KIDS ART GREETING
CARDS
* Have the children finger paint, use paintbrushes, chunky stamps or zoom
matchbox cars through paint to make neat tracks on construction paper
* After dry, cut into card size (4 x 5)
* Cut a piece of translucent vellum paper slightly smaller than the artwork
card
* Center on artwork card, punch 2 holes at the top, loop a scrap of ribbon
through the holes & tie together
* Write your message on the vellum paper - thank you cards, greetings
for Grandparents, etc.
