October 2006 Activity

Bat Finger Puppet
Strung from the ceiling with nylon thread or fishing line, these bewitching winged creatures set a properly spooky party mood right off the bat -- particularly once you cut them loose and hand them out for the guests to play with.

Materials:

- Sheet of paper
- Black construction paper
- Scissors
- Pen
- White and silver crayon
- Glue
- Large pom-pom
- 2 self-adhesive googly eyes

Time Needed: Under 1 Hour

1. To make a batch, create a template by drawing a large bat on a single sheet of paper. Use it to cut as many bats as you like out of black construction paper (cut the finger holes too.)

2. To give the wings dimension, fold them and outline them with white or silver crayon. Glue on a large pom-pom body just below the ears and above the finger holes.

3. Once the glue is dry, stick on 2 self-adhesive googly eyes.
