Djoser has taken the throne of the Egyptian kingdom, which is beginning to thrive after centuries of unification of the Thinite Confederacy, but still there is a lot of work to do. There are still several regions in Egypt not under Egyptian rule, and some of those that are are likely to revolt. The Bedouins are beginning to make their presence felt in the east. Nubia far to the south is beginning to become powerful and rich, and the Kushites below the first cataract are starting to look for an empire in the north in Egypt. To the northeast, Egyptian relations with the Erech Dynasty of Sumeria are positive, although the powerful tribes which control the cities between are extremely hostile. And far beyond these kingdoms is one known as Elam which is becoming increasingly powerful and has begun to meddle in Sumerian politics.
