The Tax Collectors Office

The Monroe County Tax Collector's Office is a vital part of the Sheriff's Responsibilities. Monroe County's Tax Collecting Office is located in our beautiful historic old Courthouse. 

Deborah Thompson

Deborah Thompson has been the Chief Deputy Tax Collector since September 1996. She has a Certificate of Membership in Arkansas County Collectors. She is certified in the Continuing Education Program. She is a life-time resident of Monroe County and a graduate of Clarendon High School. Deborah is married and has three children. Deborah is an important part of the Sheriff's Department and is a  pleasure to work with. 

Sharon Caldwell 

Sharon Caldwell is proud to be a part of the Sheriff's Department and she is a vital link to Sheriff and his deputies. Sharon is responsible for managing the Criminal and Civil papers that are given to the Sheriff for service. She began her career with the Sheriff's Department many years ago as a Jailor/Dispatcher at the Monroe County Detention Center. About one year ago, it was apparent that her talent would be a benefit  to the Tax Collector's Office, and she transferred to that part of the Sheriff's Department. Sharon is married to Robert Caldwell of Clarendon and they have two beautiful daughters; Erica Simpson, of Clarendon, who is married to Tim Simpson and Paige Caldwell who attends Arkansas State University. Sharon has one gorgeous grand-daughter Erin Simpson. Sharon enjoys spending time with her family and is Monroe County's biggest "Animal Lover". Sharon is famous for rescuing animals of all kinds. She and her husband Robert were instrumental in forming the Monroe County Sheriff's Department Softball Team. In our first season, 1999, Robert served as Coach and Sharon played Second Base. Sharon is a hard worker, and her efforts are greatly appreciated by all.

Tammy Ellis

Tammy Ellis is our Part-Time Deputy Tax Collector. Tammy enjoys being with her family, and she brings the added help needed to the Tax Collector's Office in the busier times of the year. 

 

 

 

 

  Tammy Stokes

Tammy Stokes has been Deputy Tax Collector since August of 1993. Tammy enjoys being with her family.
