Sring 2003

Dues must be paid! Anyone not up to date will not be allowed to play in any Monmouth game (A, B, C, Women, or Old Boys) Jim Shaw/Scott Cole have sent out a list of paid members. Please if you have not paid your dues, get them in. Starting in the Spring '03, a late fee will be added to dues not paid by Feb. 15th, 2003 for the upcoming Spring season.

The spring schedule is being compiled by Brian Gibbons. We are looking at a challenging spring with the Div. 2 National Playoffs in the middle of it. The season will begin on March 15th, but Coach Paul Silverman will be sending out an email about the start of training/practice. The first round of the playoffs are April 26/27, in Providence, RI. Once the schedule is completed, everyone will be notified.

Upcoming social events are the Annual Scotty too Hotty Xmas party on 12/21. The Superbowl Party on 1/26 or whenever the game is being played. The Bi-Annual Pub Crawl is being scheduled for sometime in February. And the Annual Monmouth Banquet is to be held sometime in early March before the start of the season. Details will be sent on these events as they become available.

Fall '03, Monmouth RFC will be moving up to Div 1 in the Met Union, per Met Union guidelines. This means our fall season will have matches against NYAC (non-league), Old Blue (non-league), White Plains, and New York. A total club effort will be required in order for us to continue our success at the next level. In other words, get fit, and start recruiting. Any recruiting ideas should be directed towards Tim O'Grady.

Valerie Rogers has started a Youth Rugby Program this summer with the Monmouth County Parks System. She has already sent out information regarding this program. It will be taking place this summer, anyone interested in helping the sport of Rugby along in Monmouth County should get in touch with Valerie.

Pledges were received to help fund the expenses of the Kiwi's. All pledges are due to Jim Shaw by December 31st. Information regarding pledges was sent out by Jim Shaw. Also, if you have not done so already and would like to make a pledge, please send it to Jim Shaw via instructions in the email.

Lastly, it was decided that every member of the playing club should be participating in one of the efforts to keep this club going. Be it helping Jason Peterson clean the clubhouse, Brian Cardew with the fund raising effort, or coaching Youth Rugby, everyone will be required to participate in something. A list of tasks will be sent out that require assistance, and there will also be signup sheets at the clubhouse. Please take it upon yourselves to help out, it is OUR club and OUR clubhouse, and no one is going to take care of these things for us.

Finally, a newsletter will be completed shortly. Please email Jim Shaw your updated address information, this is the address that the newsletter will be mailed. If I missed anything, please let me know so I can include it in the newsletter.
