I received this from a subscriber and feel it will be of use to many of my subscribers as there are a large number that have become infected by the latest virus worm on the circuit! " I normally don't send out "special announcements" like this, but I'm getting hit hard by this new email virus (or "worm"), and I thought it'd be useful to let you know how to get rid of it.

I've been on the net for many years, but this is actually the first virus that I constantly get in my mail... (I've received more than 200 of these emails in the last 24 hours!) So, while I'm not infected by it personally, I see that many of you are!"

The virus is called W32/SirCam@mm (Sir Cam Virus) and it sends out a message looking like this:

---ENGLISH VERSION---

Hi! How are you?

I send you this file in order to have your advice or I hope you can help me with this file that I send or I hope you like the file that I send to you or This is the file with the information that you ask for.

See you later. Thanks

IF YOU GET ANY OF THESE MESSAGES, *DO NOT* CLICK ON THE ATTACHMENT!

As long as you don't click the attachments you're safe.

If you click on the attachment the virus will install itself at your computer and start spawning out those messages to others from you!

VBS.Blank.A is a Visual Basic Script that changes the current Internet Explorer home page to the \Windows\AboutBlank.htm file, which is created by the Trojan. This file contains a link to the original home page, and sends a message to a specific ICQ user through the ICQ Web-pager.
