DAN WILSON OF SEMISONIC

Why did you decide to have the Getaway People open up for you?

We heard their CD before we saw them and loved it! I was sure that a bunch of Scandinavians couldn’t possibly be that funky live, but I was wrong. My grandparents came to the US from Norway, and I know for a fact that they were not funky in any way.

Which member of the Getaway People is most likely to end up on the cover of Teen Beat?

Race

Things sometimes get crazy on tour ... any good stories from the road with the Getaway People?

We jammed onstage with them on the song "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder at the end of our tour together, at the Metropol in Pittsburgh. When it came time to end the song, the Getaway People rebelled and kept playing for at least ten more minutes. Those fuckers don’t like to be told what to do.

Who has a bigger, more out-of-control ego, you or GP?

I try my best but I couldn’t keep up with Boots.

What did you like most about GP?

Their names.

What did you like least?

All the women in the crowd fell in love with them instead of us.

What sign are you and do you think that your astrological sign affects your opinion of the GP?  If so, in what way?

I’m a Taurus and earthy and what not. And I have no idea what that has to do with the Getaway People.

If one of the members of GP could become the father of your children (let’s pretend that you’re a girl for a minute), who would it be?

I’d like to make it with all of them. So then, when I had the baby it would become clear who the lucky man was.

What do you think about the fact that the GP have embraced the Backstreet Boys? So much they cover their songs during their live shows? Does this embarrass you?  Should it embarrass them?

I love "As Long as You Love Me" and at least one other Backstreet Boys song. So, there’s no embarrassment here.

What impressed you the most about the GP?

Their names.

In order of significance, list the following: The Beatles, Elvis, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Getaway People?

I’d put The Getaway People first, who are those other groups?

What turned you on the most about GP?

Their names. And their bottoms.

If you could say one thing about GP o them or their fans, what would it be?

Don’t believe their promises. They’ll be on the bus headed for another town in the morning.

What do you think about their nationality? Do those accents make them sexy, or what?

I think they have sexy accents though I thought Boots had kind of an English accent. What’s the story with that?

Where do you see the GP in 5 in 2001?

I hope to see them this year, actually. 2001 is a long time to wait.
