I am very interested in the island of Okinawa, off the coast of Japan. This small island has the highest number of people over 100 living there in the whole world, and this is largely due to their super-healthy lifestyle.

They beleive food to be sacred, and eat an extremely healthy diet, which I try to follow as much as my student budget will allow me. A team of scientists have been studying Okinawa and it's traditions for 25 years and have produced an excellent lifestyle book called The Okinawa Way which I would recommend to anyone interested in improving their diet or becoming more healthy. It is also good for slimmers, as this is a hugely flexible and healthy way of eating and gives advice on loosing weight throughout.

The diet consists of eating a certain number of portions of particular catergories of food every day, focusing on wholegrains, vegetables and lots of green tea! They also recommend keeping yourself active and excercised, usually through martial arts or yoga/t'ai chi. It also includes information on healing with herbs, vitamin supplements and Okinawan history and spirituality.
