Bright stars twinkled slowly in a never-ending sea of midnight blue. Pinpricks of
light, of varying sizes danced in the heavens to their own silent music. With one hand
pressed to a clear pane, a man dressed in a dark blue uniform watches the celestial activity.
Blue-grey eyes were partially hidden by long black locks of hair, reaching past the man's
broad shoulders. A serious face was reflected back from the large window, which filled an
entire wall of a large room.
Light years away a shooting star streaked across the blackness of space, leaving a
trail of sparkling glitter in it's wake. The man smiled wryly. "That's how I'll be," he said to
no one in particular. "I'd rather burn out quickly than fade away to nothing." He turned his
attention back to a small cluster of stars. Concentrating hard, he could define seven bright
specks - the Pleides.
His eyes narrowed. "I refuse to waste my time and my life, simply because my
family decided it would be their task, and therefore mine," he snarled, turning away from
the window and pacing back and forth. A huge black panther slinked out of the shadows,
watching him curiously. "I've made my own choice now, by siding with Oracle and the
negaverse," he mused, smiling secretly. "Which completely ruins their stupid plans," he
added, toying with a golden chain that hung around his neck. "I control my own destiny
now, Chiara." The panther growled and rubbed her head against her master's other hand.
Whoosh. The door to the observation room slid open, and a sultry blonde vixen
entered the room. "Well, well. What a surprise finding you here, Tsuzuku," Solaris purred
seductively.
"What do you want, Solaris?" Tsuzuku asked, bored. He stared coldly at her,
leaning back against the window, arms crossed over his chest.
"Well, there's no need to be rude," Solaris sniffed. "If you must know, I was sent
by Oracle to find you. She's had another prediction, and wants all of us in her State Room
so she only has to explain it once."
"Did she say what she saw?" inquired Tsuzuku, curious.
	"She says she saw..nothing."

Serena flew through the corridor, sending papers on notice boards flapping in the
accompanying gust of wind. Breathing heavily, she sighted her classroom door and zeroed
in on it. Picturing the awful detention that she would have otherwise, Serena put on an extra
burst of speed and rushed through the door just before it closed. Panting, Serena dropped
into her seat and collapsed on her table just as the tardy bell rang.
"Whew! ...made it..can't..believe I can...run that...fast," she gasped to Ami, who
was sitting on her left.
"Serena, you wouldn't have to run if you got up a little earlier," Ami chided her best
friend.
"Not that she's saying that the exercise isn't good for you," chimed in Lita, on her
right.
"But...I did...get up early," Serena whined. "I ..ran into Darien. He was late too,
and I would have been on time if it wasn't for that, even Darien said so."
"All right, all right," conceded a voice in front of Serena. Mina turned around and
winked. "We believe you, just please stop that awful whining!" she joked.
"That's enough girls!" the teacher interrupted them. "Time to get to work. Open
your maths books to page one hundred and ninety-eight."
"I hate maths!" whined Serena quietly to Ami.
"Then you should study," Ami replied in a whisper. "Meeting at the Temple after
school?" she asked the other Scouts.
"Nah!" replied Lita, yawning. "It's a beautiful day, and there's been no nega activity
for ages. Why waste it? Who's up for shopping?"
	"ME!" came the resounding reply.
	"GIRLS!!!"

Resting her head sideways on her right hand, Ari absently scribbled notes while
listening the physics teacher drone on. She stared at the clock on the wall, willing five more
minutes to be over, and the bell to go. She sighed. Physics in English was certainly a lot
different to physics in Japanese.
*Go!* she thought at the bell. *Go, go, go.* ~GO!~ She felt a twinge in the front of
her mind, as if something had moved.
Darien's head whipped up, thinking he had felt something brush by his head. Or had
it all just been in his mind? Searching the room, he found those near to him engrossed in
their work, or, as in Ari's case, staring at the clock.
	Riiinnng - Riiinnng
The teacher looked up in surprise, checking the clock on the classroom wall. He
pulled back his jacket sleeve and glanced at his wristwatch, then back up to the clock.
"Batteries must be running out," he grumbled. "They're both slow."
Ari grinned as she gathered up her books and pens, joining the stream of students
heading for the door. "Thank God!" she whispered to the raven-haired young man beside
her. "I thought it would never be over!"
"You mean you didn't find it interesting?" Darien asked, glancing at her in surprise.
"Let me guess - physics is your favourite subject," Ari teased, rolling her eyes.
"Actually it is. Why are you doing it if you don't like it?" Darien inquired.
"I usually don't mind it," Ari shrugged. "When it's in English, that is. It's all
written differently to what I'm used to seeing," she explained. "So, I basically took notes,
but watched the lesson fly right over my head," she added, gesturing with a mock grimace.
Darien laughed. If all Americans were as nice as Ari, the he was sorry he had missed
his chance of studying there the year before. "If you just need help to understand the basics,
then I can help you study," he offered.
"Really?" Ari's face lit up, and her eyes lightened to a pale mauve. "Thank you so
much! Physics was never my favourite class, but today was a nightmare," she complained.
"No problem. Umm, it might be just me, but...are you aware that your eyes change
colour?" Darien asked tentatively.
Ari rolled her eyes. "Believe me, I know. It's so annoying - I can never hide what
mood I'm in," she grumbled. "See, they change according to how I feel. If they're light, it
means I'm happy. If they're dark, then I'm angry or sad. The lighter or darker they go, the
more extreme the emotion I'm feeling. I used to get so payed out about it when I was
younger," she sighed.
"I think it looks kind of cool," Darien shrugged. "It might take a bit of getting used
to, but it's better than being the same as everyone else, right?"
"Right," Ari laughed, glad that she had someone to cheer her up. "English," she
muttered, checking her schedule. "Yuck. Room 273," she glanced up, checking the
numbers of the rooms around her.
"It's on my way. I'll walk you there," Darien reassured her, with a grin.
"What would I have done today without you?" Ari replied, grinning back at her new
friend.

Oracle sighed as she studied her three subordinates, grouped in her State Room.
Solaris was perched on the edge of one of the control panels, inspecting her perfectly
manicured nails. A young man with spiky purple hair stood in the middle of the open floor,
hands on his hips. He wore a permanent scowl on his face as he divided his attention
between the other three in the room.
Leaning against a wall, partially in the shadows, as was his preference, Tsuzuku
watched the precedings with a sardonic smile playing on his lips. The scowling young man
with spiky purple hair turned and glared at him, thinking that he was being laughed at. He
took a step forward, into a fighting stance. Dark blue energy crackled in blue-grey eyes,
warning the younger man off.
"Children!" Oracle snapped, interrupting them. "We have enough problems without
your egos causing us more. Akira, will you please stop seeing threats and challenges
everywhere you look?!"
"Fine, take his side," Akira mumbled, running a hand through his purple hair.
Sky blue psionic energy flared from Oracle's white eyes, knocking the young man
to the floor. "Kindly remember that we are a team," Oracle reminded them tiredly. "And
the only way for us to survive is to continue to act as one." Switching her attention back to
the entire group she continued more seriously. "This morning, while studying a holographic
map of this solar system, I had a very confusing, but...beneficial premonition."
"But you said you saw nothing," Solaris interrupted impatiently.
"And if you had let me finish, I was going to explain what that meant!" the telepath
grated.
"Oh! Sorry," Solaris whispered, not wanting to end up on the floor like Akira.
"Despite what many people would like to believe," Oracle explained, "destiny is not
easily changed. One of the reasons so many psychic predictions are accurate is because of
that difficulty." Oracle paused. "So many people aren't even aware that there is a destiny to
be changed. They believe that they are in charge of their own lives and actions. Idiots," she
snorted. "Anyway, what it falls down to is that most people simply don't have enough
willpower, awareness, or whatever it takes to change destiny. That's why it's so easy for
psychics to declare what they see as inevitable."
"What does that have to do with seeing nothing?" Akira demanded, to the
amusement of Solaris, who secretly hoped he would be blasted again.
~Don't count on it~ Oracle's voice warned in Solaris's mind. Solaris leapt into the
air in shock, and fell off the control panel, landing in a heap on the floor.
"However," Oracle sighed, "there are some unique individuals who do have the
power to change fate. As fate is then changeable and can go either way, they create what are
known as Ôblank spots', that is, when we see nothing."
"So you think one of these individuals is in this system then?" Tsuzuku pushed
himself off the wall and came to stand with the others in front of Oracle.
"The individual we seek is located on the island of Honshu, Japan. As we get
closer, I shall be able to zoom in on the human's location. That will be all."
"While we're on this Godforsaken mudball, we may as well collect enough energy
to power our ship home," Solaris added, as she followed Akira out of Oracle's State Room.
"Question," Tsuzuku came to stand beside Oracle. "What if this human doesn't want
to help us in our fight against our home system?"
"Who said the human got a choice?" Oracle smiled evilly, resting her chin in her
right hand. "Remember what we tried with Chiara?" she reminded Tsuzuku. "That worked
so well, I thought I'd try it on a human subject. Some modifications will have to be made,
of course, and we'll need to give our newest addition to the nega family some powers of
course."
"Whatever. The sooner we can leave and get back to business the better," he said
brusquely, striding to the door. "You know, I almost pity the poor human."

"So, what did you mean when you said you just lived in America?" Darien asked, as
he and Ari walked to the parking lot. "I couldn't tell if you were joking or not."
Ari cocked her head to one side and thought back to that morning. "Y'know, I really
can't remember if I meant it as one or not," she admitted with a sheepish grin. "I presume
that was a request for my life story?"
"The abridged version," Darien agreed with a laugh.
"Ah. Well, I was originally born right here in Tokyo. My mom was Japanese and
my father was an American businessman who fell in love with her and decided to stay
here." Ari's eyes grew a little darker as she remembered, and she leaned against her bike
as she recounted her childhood. "My mom died when I was seven, and my father moved
back to New York, taking me with him. I guess this place reminded him of her too much, or
something. So I lived there for the rest of my life, until about a month or two ago when I
came over here, needing a break." She paused. "My dad died about three years ago, and left
me his investments and money and stuff. Not that I really needed or wanted it," she added
in a melancholy tone of voice. Darien stared at her, eyes filled with sorrow and sympathy,
sorry that he'd brought up such bad memories. "I'd give it all away to have him back,
y'know? But enough about me," Ari said abruptly, changing the topic. "What about you?
Edited life story?"
Darien dropped his head. "There's not really much to tell," he shrugged. "I was in a
car accident when I was young. The rest of my family didn't make it," he related in a soft
voice. "I grew up here in an orphanage till I could get a job. I still don't know who my
family were, where I was born or if I even have any relatives left."
"My God," whispered Ari, hands covering her mouth. "I'm so sorry." *That must
be so awful. Not even having the memories of the good times to pull him through* she
thought sadly.
"I'm okay," he reassured her softly, but looked away. "Like anything else, you get
used to it, right?"
Ari shook her head sadly. "There are some things you never get used to. And some
things you should never have to," she quietly insisted, knowing from experience. She
walked over to him, and softly pressed her lips to his cheek, much to Darien's
astonishment. "I'll see you tomorrow, Darien," she said, hopping on her bike. Darien
pressed one hand to his cheek and stared after Ari, slightly dazed, as she roared out of the
parking lot.

"Serena? Serena?!" Mina shook Serena's arm.
"Earth to Serena? Come in please!" Lita called to her friend.
"Serena? You look like you've seen a ghost," commented Ami.
Baby blue eyes were wide open in shock, as Serena stared at the beautiful red head,
who had been standing so close to her Darien, lean over and kiss him. Serena watched
silently as Darien pressed his hand to his cheek and stared after the young woman. *I can't
believe it. There's got to be a reasonable explanation for it.* Serena thought
desperately. *I know he was a little mad at me this morning, but that doesn't mean he
likes someone else. Yeah, there's a reasonable explanation. I'll ask him about it later.*
"Serena, are you coming or not?" demanded Lita. "Time and shopping wait for no
girl, not even our leader!"
"Here, here!" agreed Mina, lifting an imaginary glass of champagne into the air to
toast Lita's words.
"Y-yeah, I'm coming guys," Serena said. Shopping was just what she needed to
take her mind off her new rival.

Striding through the halls of the skating center, heading to the rink Ari reflected on
her day. "God, that was so stupid. Kissing a guy you only met that morning. Y'know,
sometimes I'm so brainless I amaze even myself," she deliberately misquoted Han Solo.
"Well, if mom were still here, she'd say I was just picking up on his negative
emotions and responding to them," Ari shook her head, smiling wryly. Somehow she
doubted that kissing guys was what her mother would have had in mind. "He was cute
though. Thoughtful, funny, kind, smart. If he's any indication of Japanese guys, then I
think I'm gonna enjoy my stay here," she grinned.
Pushing open the doors to the rink, she was confronted by an extremely angry
looking Michael. "Uh oh," she murmured.
"'Uh oh' is right!" he stormed, seating himself on the barrier. "Do you have any
idea how many times I tried calling your mobile number today? You weren't at your
apartment, you weren't here, what exactly were you doing that was so important you
couldn't answer your phone?!"
"Whoa! Calm down. I left my phone in my apartment," Ari explained, backing away
from the explosion. "I had no idea you were calling me!" she protested.
"Fine," Michael answered, calming himself slightly. "May I ask where you were
then?"
"Promise you won't get mad?" Ari asked, cringing slightly.
	"ARI!!!"
Ari clapped her hands over her ears as Michael's voice echoed across the ice and
back. "Fine!" she yelled, her temper ignited. "If you really must know, I was at school all
day, and that's why I couldn't call!"
Michael's anger abruptly left him. "School?" he asked, confused.
"You know as well as I do that the chances of me ever skating again are almost
nonexistent," Ari fumed icily. "I need something to fall back on, and why shouldn't I
continue my education here, like I used to in New York?!"
"Maybe because we're trying to keep a low profile here in Tokyo!!"
"Trouble in paradise?" a sickly sweet voice interrupted the argument. Two heads
swung to see a blonde woman entering through the door. Silky golden curls floated about
her shoulders, combining with her perfect features to give the illusion of a porcelain doll
come to life.
"Lila? What are you doing here?" Michael asked, smiling at her unexpected arrival,
and glad of the diversion.
"Yeah," muttered Ari under her breath. "What -are- you doing here?" She meant it
in a completely different way to her partner. *Come to slice my ankle open again, you
witch?* No one was watching to see Ari's eyes darken to almost black.
"I know you two are old friends, so I'll leave you to catch up," she announced as
she headed for the door. Looking over her shoulder she found her partner and her greatest
rival deep in animated conversation. "Don't miss me too much," she whispered sadly,
closing the door behind her.

Seating herself wearily on a bench in the mall Mina complained, "Well, I'm out of
money. How about you guys?"
	"Almost," replied Lita.
"Close enough to it," Ami added, struggling with her massive amount of shopping
bags. "You know, I never seem to spend as much when I come here on my own."
"Yeah, but it's not as much fun on your own either," Mina reminded her. "That's
what friends are for."
"To help you spend money?" Serena grinned. The four girls laughed.
Lita turned and noticed a rush of people running in their direction from the other end
of the mall. "Hey, what's going on?" she yelled to them.
"Yeah, is there a sale?!" Mina asked.
Screams pierced the air, and the four girls exchanged glances.
"Not again," Serena wailed. "We only just finished battling Galaxia!"
"You got a four week holiday," Mina advised her. "Be happy we got that much of a
rest!"
Ducking into a deserted shop, they cried: "JUPITER CRYSTAL POWER!"
"MERCURY CRYSTAL POWER!" "VENUS CRYSTAL POWER!" "MOON ETERNAL
MAKE UP!"
Heading towards the screams, Eternal Sailor Moon turned to Mercury. "You better
call Mars, and clue her in on this."
"Right," Mercury nodded, lifting her communicator to her mouth to call Rei.
They arrived on the scene to find a voluptuous blonde woman in a skimpy red outfit
draining energy from innocent shoppers. Trails of glittering energy left the humans' bodies,
feeding into a large sparkling ball of energy between the woman's hands.
"A new troupe of negacreeps," Venus announced. "I wonder where she came
from?"
"It doesn't matter where she came from, or why," Sailor Moon answered
confidently. "She's still moondusted!"
Hearing voices, Solaris looked up to find four girls in sailor outfits glaring at her.
She smiled evilly, and her eyes glinted with vicious challenge.
