Indianapolis

Continued . . .

I like to visit homes of historical people, and Home of Benjamin Harrisonlearn how they decorated, and styled their rooms to provide or maximum comfort. Indianapolis has quite a few house tours available. Among them are the homes of Benjamin Harrison, 23rd Vice-President of the United States; James Whitcomb Riley, poet; and J. K. Lilly, former president of Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals.

Anyone that knows me, is well aware of my love for animals. It is impossible for Lion at Indianapolis Zoome to visit a town, without making a stop at the zoo. The Indianapolis Zoo has grown quite a bit in the last ten years, and now houses a large collection of animals from around the world, and offer an expansive schedule of classes and activities.
My favorite zoo animal? The lion. It must be the leo in me! But I am also very fond of the llama and goat...they have such beautiful eyes.

Other favorites in Indianapolis:

The Slippery Noodle for drinks and music. This was once a hangout for John Dillinger. Although it is small in size, it has a friendly staff, and offers live music.

Rick's Boatyard at the Eagle Creek Locks for luncheon. They have a somewhat fashionable menu, that utilizes some of the more exotic vegetables and cooking styles available.

Fountain Square for coffee and entertainment. This area of the city has been under renovation for the last few years and is quickly becoming an "artsy" village within the city.

The Indianapolis Ice for affordable, and exciting hockey. Luckily the Ice are not too far away, and we can drive down for the weekend, stay at a hotel and attend two games, and still spend less than if we had stayed home and gone to a Blackhawks game.

O'Charley's for dinner. They have the best rolls anywhere. They melt in your mouth with the first bite. Don't order a large meal here, unless you like doggie bags. Most likely you'll overdo it on the bread before your meal arrives!
