Why do I love this game so much? Well I started playing the first persona that was released on playstation, Revelations: Persona, or Megami Ibunroku Persona, about four- six years ago- basically when the game first came out on playstation. I was still pretty new to RPGs even after getting a thorough raping by Beyond the Beyond- God talk about a way to lose your RPG virginity. I should have played Suikoden first..... Anyways, I started renting Persona and I really liked it. I was an ordinary high school student in an ordinary city. This is what made the game so different to me. It wasn't in another world, another time. It was just like going outside, until the Deva system got activated and the city was over run with demons... One of the things that I really like about this game versus any other game that I've ever played (including Persona 2 EP) is the level up system. You have to build up your character and your persona level. But your character level ups only come according to that character's use in battle. For example, if I had a party of Mary, Mark and Nate, and Nate just defended while Mary killed 5 enemies with Glacier all and Mark killed two using physical attacks, Mary would get the most points for being so damn useful. Mark would be in the middle for contributing well, and Nate would get the minimun amount of points for not doing a damn thing. So basically, your characters got what they deserved. So you can easliy have characters 5 levels higher than the rest of the party. This was a good way to get some of the more powerful personas earlier in the game. Besides, it was really nice having Mary so buff at all times. Anyways, I loved the characters. And it was nice to see a black character in a game, even though Mark was ghetto at times. But he had an axe and a shotgun. How fucking cool is that?! I loved pretty much everyone except for Brad. I don't care for Justice personas, weak against magic and all, and not all that useful to me. Mary was God. And she always will be. I also really liked the character Yuki. Yuki's razor attack is amazing and she had access to some damn good personas, i.e. Empress class. Unfortunately, the subject of Yuki brings me to one of my serious gripes about the game.... WHY COULDN'T ATLUS FULLY TRANSLATE THE GAME?! WHY!!! OH THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL!!! THEY LEFT OUT THE FRIGGIN' SNOW QUEEN QUEST FROM THE AMERICAN VERSION OF THE GAME!!!!! Well, now that's out of my system, allow me to explain. TBC |
