Moon and Shadows They were twins or so each thought back when perceptions didn't matter nearly so much as the sky overhead and the moon as it shone but the shadows should have forewarned. They were so alike when nobody cared about difference in upbringing and much of geography or what the 49th parallel really meant and hopes were so high for the years ahead but the shadows should have spoken more. So one chose her path with the other naive thinking that two hours from home wouldn't mean anything for they already spanned a continent in distance and their bond was more resilient than elastic or maybe that's a rubber band. But such words didn't matter when maybe they should have perhaps the shadows were a clue for a moon in the sky can't keep two together when hypocrisy rises and takes back the night a difference in outlook shouldn't bring moral judgment. Friendship is a bond which erases the lines that are burned into everything that surrounds us when tolerance is the buzzword of the day and many have closed off their mind friendship encompasses the value of acceptance. So accept me for who I am not what I stand for and who I know or to what belief system I belong, or that I shun elite organization please remember what it was like before years passed us by and differences grew... ..while the shadows remained, and elastic rotted away. by Jennifer Farwell |
