The Greatest Man I Know:
In memory of Dr. George Huppert

Every time I see you,
You are walking with a spring in your step.
Never looking behind, only forward.
Never losing sight of what matters.
You always know the right things to say,
And the right time to say them.
A smiling hello, a cheerful see ya tomorrow,
Some professional advice, or just shooting the breeze.
When I am troubled, you listen.
When I am confused, you educate.
And when I am ready to give up,
You show me just how much I have to lose.
Your passion for what you do,
The sparkle that gleams in your eyes,
Transfers to me and lets me know how much you mean to me.
You are more than a professor, a mentor, or a friend.
You are family.
I have always thought of you as a grandfather to me,
And you treat me as if you were.
The bond that we share is unspeakable, unimaginable.
I speak of you as if you are here right now.
Standing here beside me, helping me though this.
I'm going to miss you Papa Smurf,
Because you are the greatest man I know.
