Second Chance

Stupidity,
The epidemy of mankind.
Convenience,
Rules over better judgment.
There is nothing that I can say,
To justify what I have done.
Betraying your trust,
For self-gratification.
Loneliness playing a small part,
But I knew better.
Trying to be a man worthy of your affection,
And I threw it away like yesterday’s paper.
Hesitation,
Practicing self-restraint.
But it’s too late,
The damage is done.
There is nothing that I can say,
Nothing that I can do to make up for my faults.
I thought that I could take a chance,
But all along I knew better.
Better luck pulling a rat from poison,
Than you can with me from history.
There is no excuse for what I’ve done,
You’re better off without me.
Why trust a man,
Who can’t control himself.
I know I don’t deserve it,
And I know you have every right,
But give me a chance to prove it,
And I will show you what love really means.
