Transport Problems In The
Moor Park / New York Area (pt2)
- Bus Report

Highlight Points

Transport is one of the most vital services to any community and involves all partnership boards.

Life Long Learning

The emphasis today is on learning from the cradle to the grave, how can small communities get the benefit of this if they have no transport to reach learning centres.

Health

At a time when patients can be sent to any hospital for treatment regular direct transport is important, remember that people are attending hospitals because they are ill.

Regeneration / Social Inclusion

It is in regenerated areas that sports complexes, leisure facilities, cinemas and shopping precincts are to be found. How do small communities access these outlets without decent affordable transport.

Safer Communities

People who travel either by bus or metro and then find they have to walk along badly lit, lonely roads are being put at risk. This particularly applies to evenings.

Environment & Transport

All communities deserve clean reliable services with shelter from the elements. This is particularly true of small communities where the unemployed, elderly and one-parent families live side by side, and who must travel to access other services such as shops, banks, jobs centres and other amenities not on their doorstep.

Whether you live in the centre of town or in a rural area good transport links are vital. They should be not be gauged by the number of users but on a need to get from A - B quickly, safely and at reasonable cost to the public.

Last Metro From Monument

The following example demonstrates how isolated Moor Park / New York is. It is just one of many possible examples:

has no 356 bus connection.

Arriving:

Shiremoor
