Moving
Around Moor Park

A
bus shelter with no information on service routes or timetables.
There are several of these information boards in bus shelters
around the area waiting for timetables, some are even waiting
for bus stop signs to be added. With so many changes to timetables
lately how are we supposed to know which buses still stop there.

Shiremoor
Metro Station is a Park and Ride facility. It is easy for drivers
to access, however, it is more difficult for passengers trying
to get there by bus. This is New York/Moor Park's nearest Metro
Station. Returning from Newcastle after a night out the last 356
bus often goes through before the last Metro. There is no taxi
rank or office here, when this happens it leaves people with a
mile or more to walk home along a dark lonely road to New York/Moor
Park. This puts them in a vulnerable situtation. |

North
Tyneside General Hospital. This hospital is situated at Rake Lane,
North Shields. Patients and Relatives visiting from areas using
the 356 bus route from Newcastle have to alight at the stop after
the Jackson Farm Roundabout then, walk the rest of the journey
past three recognised bus stops on the way. This is a long road
to walk if the weather is inclement. |
Pushing
the limit - waiting for an easy access bus. Will it come today,
and on time? Young Mums and Carers have a problem with easy access
buses in this area, very often they are late or do not turn up
at all. If other buggies are already on board, they can get left
standing at the bus stop. This causes problems especially for
Doctors appointments ect. |

Safeway
shopping, fuelling consumption. It is easier to access this store
by car than it is by public transport. Shoppers using the bus
find it easier to return by taxi, especially with heavy carrier
bags of shopping and small children. Savings made by shopping
in the store are swallowed up by taxi fare on return journey.
