May 13th - Mother's Day

Well hello and happy mother's day to those of you who have offspring - I think it's a very important day since (1) everyone has/had a mother and it's important to reflect on that most primal of relationship (even if it was crappy - in fact especially if it's crappy) at some time in your life, and (2) for those of us who don't have kids like myself and get to have EVERY Sunday off, I can only imagine what it's like to only have one Sunday off a year and I imagine you damn well need it.

I rang my mother back in my home town and we had quite a long and lovely chat - our family don't do presents for Mother's and Father's day, we focus on the togetherness thing and doing nice stuff for them on the day. It means I can't be there to do it with her this year, but I think a leisurely chat on the phone is pretty meaningful in this day and age.

So, Flopsy and I had a good day - we walked into the city and went shopping for him because he needed a new suit to wear to a wedding next week. I'm happy to report that he looked damn tasty in it. Then later we went out and played a bit of tennis. It's been a lovely day all up and a great finish to the weekend.
