Site FAQ
Q: What does 'Koneko' mean?A: Koneko is Japanese and means 'kitten'. The idea of using the word as a website title however deprives from a Japanese rock song named 'kuroneko'. Once the idea was established, I grew immensly fond of the name, deciding it suits my Cats website project nicely; it will always be petite, it aims to be cute and pleasant and it's my baby. A kitten. Simple!
Q: Why all the changes?
A: Because I enjoy driving people nuts. Just kidding. Changes is what preserves my interest and triggers my motivation. It's just my nature.
Q: When will you update?
A: Whenever I have the time and feel like doing it. My life is not predictable at all, so that's the best I can do, I'm afraid. I try to be a bit regular though and keep a biweekly update schedule (which no one but me knows of)
What's this crazy fairytale?
My Cats website project has a history like no other; one that fascinates the newcomer and drives the regular visitor crazy. In two years, it's been reset three times and reincaranted twice. All due to the simple fact that it is run by a webmistress whose resitance towards impulses is non-existant and motivation dependant on the preservation of interest.Koneko opened the first day of January in the year of 2006 as the result of years with a fanatical mindset. It was given the name "Meyju" (and later "Cats in the Cradle" as a sub-name) and entered the web just as wonderfully enthusiastic, idealistic and proud as new sites tend to be. Ambition: covering every single little aspect of the fandom and the musical. Not unexpectedly, an ambition of such kind turned out to be quite the impossible goal to achieve. Fun became work. Because of that, I realised I had definitely lost something very essential along the way; my own personal touch. That was a real problem to me and some drastic measures had to be done. Half a year after its ''grand opening'', Koneko went through its first reincarnation and returned 3 weeks (and a rather impressive account of "stylish" layouts that I didn't like), now named Good Night.
In November/December 2006, after a 5-6 weeks long hiatus, I adjusted Koneko to new conditions once again: it was officially introduced as a "resource fan site".
Following in the beginning of 2007 was a year-long to-and-fro swapping between ideas, modifications and layout changes. Koneko admittedly progressed very little through that year from the visitor's point of view, but made progress behind the scene. My mind was full of all things CATS and the file-sketchbook drew the outlines of numerous projects. By the beginning of summer, I began researching, writing and releasing new pages. At present time, I'm working with establishing new pages in-between my studies.
KONEKO I let go of every ambition and discarded every expectation placed upon me - the concentration will be graphics and fanworks. I learned html properly, studied css and built my first div-layer layout. without any help of any pagebuilders.
All in all, Koneko is the site with the odd turning points. It will always have a "erase, rewind, prosper"-process (because I will always take in new impulses, stray and adjust), but the direction remains the same. I want Konekot to be someplace people can enjoy themselves and I want Koneko to mirror my interests. And I can proudly claim that I have succeeded making Koneko into something that is far more than any of my former sites (Nimbletail's World, Backyard) have ever been. What concerns the sanity and enjoyment bit is up to the visitor to decide. But I like to think that I have, so far, succeeded.
