Special Notes:

This week, updates will happen as follows:

  2. Tuesday morning (sometime before noon probably) I will update the site with the final results. This will be later than normal.
  3. On Tuesday or Wed (if possible) for those of you with people on your IR, please send me a list of who you want to cut. Remember to cut people with 1-year left on their contracts or you will be hit with a cap penalty.

Specifically

  1. On Thursday (if possible) I will do a large update to the site which ll include the off-season schedule and the next season information (new divisions, new team names, new schedule and so on). If I don't have time to do this it will be up sometime mid-January.
  2. Even if I can't do the large update, I will post a list of polls regarding rule changes that have been proposed to me by various members. If you have other ideas please send them to me by e-mail. Please vote on the polls if you're interested.

Playoffs Round 2

Superbowl Bracket

Rynos  (10-4) vs. Assassins (8-6)

The Assassins have been on fire lately and have moved all the way to the superbowl. Lead by their receiving corps, the Assassins have three of the top 10 receivers. Last week, those receivers accounted for over 52 fantasy points on their own. The best match up may be Darrell Jackson going up against the Arizona defense. The Rynos have had a resurgence since getting Marshall Faulk back (averaging 78 points per game over that span) and now have a strong 1-2 punch with Faulk & Alexander

Chargers (10-4) vs. Marauders (12-2)

The two favorites from last week both lost, and are fighting it out for draft picks now. The Chargers had a let-down from Duce McAllister last week despite a blow out week, and this week he will be facing an improved front of Jacksonville. For the Marauders, their season came to an end with the traditional Christmas time folding of the Dolphins. The key this week will be the match up of Trent Green against the Minnesota Vikings in what should be a huge shootout.
Draft Pick Bracket

Tight Ends (6-8) vs. PhatBacks (7-7)

Under new management, the Tight Ends finally break out and score more points than they have scored all year. As always, Priest Holms is their top scorer, and will be going up against the Vikings. The PhatBacks had luck on their side again as the Ball Ho's had their second lowest scoring week of the year in a loss last week. The trade for Peyton Manning helped in the playoffs so far as he rode Peyton's arm to the second round.

StiffArms (9-5) vs. Ball Ho's (7-7)

After a big loss in the first round (despite scoring over 60 points), the StiffArms will take on the Ball Ho's for the third time this year. They won their previous two meetings by a total of 162 - 105, but will have a harder time as the Tampa Running situation looks to have moved into a full RBBC and Clinton Portis questionable for this weekend. The Ball Ho's missed a great opportunity to advance with many points left on the bench, but this week I expect the Dallas Defense will probably get the nod to start (hint hint).
Lottery Bracket

Hitmen (6-8) vs.  Gryphons (4-10)

The Hitmen offence finally broke out last week as the Hitmen had their best week of the year, where every player except one WR and his kicker scored a touchdown. This week, he can expect big things from his special teams & defense as Carolina goes up against Detroit. The Gryphons will miss not playing the Quiet Storm until next year after beating them three times. Regardless of the outcome of this game, the Gryphons will be rooting for the Bills as they face off against the Dolphins - and Edwin will be heard teaching his son how to chant "Go Travis! Go Bobby!"

Quiet Storm (3-11) vs. SmackDownSister (3-11)

Once again, the re-match of the two worst teams in the league. In the last match up, the Quiet Storm got their first win of the season defeating Sister 56-46. This week will be a much tougher week as the QS will face matches against top defenses including New England, Philadelphia and Tennessee. Sister's team has come to some life recently, but is missing any semblance of a running game - although Jerome Bettis (average 7.6 Fantasy points per week  over the past month) will be going up against the pathetic San Diego defense.

Post Season Week 2 Transactions

Regular Season MVP Award

The criteria I used for this poll is:

  1. Must have played for a team in the top playoff bracket
  2. Must be among the top 5 players at his position
  3. Must have been one of the top scoring players for his team
  4. Must have played on the team for the majority of the year
Who was the regular season MVP of the league?
Steve McNair - Rynos  Averaged 10.9 Fantasy Points per game, was the #2 rated QB over the regular season (2.7 points per game behind Daunte Cullpepper, who played 2 less games than McNair).
Chad Johnson - Assassins  Averaged 8.5 Fantasy Points per game, was the #3 Wide Receiver in the league (behind Randy Moss & Torry Holt)
Ahman Green - Marauders  Averaged 14 Fantasy Points per game; was the #2 RB behind Priest Holms who averaged 15.7 points per game.
Deuce McCalister - Chargers  Averaged 10.8 Fantasy Points per game, and single-handedly carried the Chargers team over weeks 11-13.
Tony Gonzalez - Rynos  Averaged 6.4 points per game for the season, but 7.7 over the past 5 weeks. Was the #1 Tight End in the league
Mike Vanderjact - Marauders  Averaged 11.2 points per game and was the #1 kicker in the league. Only scored less than double digit points 4 times during the season.
New England Defense - Assassins  Averaged 13.1 points per game outscoring the next closest (Baltimore) by 20%.
Write in - Priest Holms - Tight Ends  Screw your criteria - Priest is the absolute #1 fantasy player out there and should be the MVP.

Results for the Final Round of the Playoffs

      Rynos 90

Assassins 68

Marauders 68

Chargers 47

Congratulations goes out to Ryan and his Rynos in his second win of the Superbowl.  The Rynos cap off the year as one of the hottest teams in the final few weeks, and have a spectacular day thanks to their two running back Marshall Faulk (>150 yards & 2 TDs) and Shaun Alexander (close to 150 yards & 2 TDs).  The Assassins had phenomenal performances by Jamal Lewis (over 225 yards and 2 TDs) and the NE defense, but the rest of their team let them down with 5 players scoring less than 5 points. The Marauders had another rough week, but were bailed out by the Miami Defense which made up for last week with a spectacular performance against the Bills, allowing only 3 points, while amassing 6 sacks, 4 takeaways and a touchdown.  The Chargers were let down by their stars on the last week of the season with no receiver breaking 5 fantasy points and Duce McAllister only getting 113 yards a fumbling once.
Tight Ends 96

PhatBacks 68

Ball Ho's 103

StiffArms 56

The Tight Ends cap off a disappointing season with a win in the final game taking the 5th draft pick.  Priest Holms was once again the man for the TE's, with over 100 yards and 3 touchdowns.  I would bet my house (well, I don't have a house, so I'll bet Tom's house) that Priest will go for more than $3 in the draft next year.  The PhatBacks had a strong week, but let's put the blame for the loss on Peyton Manning, who also may have blown a first round bye in the Colts loss to Denver on Sunday night. The biggest "up and down" team in the league, the Ball Ho's scored over 100 points for the first time this year, but remain the only team to score more than 100 points in every season so far.  His top performers were Brett Farve, Randy Moss, and Javon Walker, but the real star was the Baltimore Defense with a shutout, 5 sacks, 4 takeaways and a touchdown.  The StiffArms played well, but unfortunately had a hobbled Clinton Portis that was deactivated just before the game.  They only forwent Thomas Jones' 87 yards, so it would not have made a difference.
Hitmen 60

Gryphons 57

Quiet Storm 66

SmackDownSister 51

The Hitmen pull out a close one and win over the Gryphons, despite only scoring 3 touchdowns.  Torry Holt caught one of those (along with over 125 yards) while LaDanian Tomlinson had close to 100 yards and scored twice.  For the Gryphons, Duce Staley had a big game with two touchdowns and a little over 50 yards, but they couldn't quite get enough to overcome the Hitmen. The Quiet Storm win the second meetings of the bottom two teams.  It all came down to who's SF running back would get the carries, and with Garrison Hearst on the shelf, Kevan Barlow had almost 200 yards of offense and scored two TDs.  SmackDownSister can close the "rebuilding" year and look to the auction to try to fix a record-low scoring team.  In the final game, he had 4 players score 2 points or less.
