Important Reminders:

  1. The trade deadline has passed.

  2. The cap penalty for any player dropped before the last week of the season won't count against next year, but any player dropped AFTER the last game of the regular season (after the playoffs start) WILL count towards next year's cap.

  3. At the season end, you must cut down to 15 players on your roster; RFAs can be cut without penalty - any player under contract will cause a penalty to be applied.

Week 12 Match-ups

SmackDownSister (2-9) vs. Chargers (7-4)

The Chargers only need a few more wins, and this week will play the still-weakest team in the league. SmackDownSister has a re-invigorated receiving corps lead by Peter Warrick who is going up against the weak San Diego defense. The Chargers are relying on their star Deuce McAllister, and will have a tough decision on who to start between Rudi Johnson and the now healthy Brian Westbrook.

Tight Ends (5-6) vs. Hitmen (4-7)

This is a must win game for both teams as the loser will almost certainly be eliminated. The Tight Ends have dropped from one of the top scoring teams to the 3rd worst this year while the Hitmen are almost guaranteed the hard luck award with more than 12 points per game more than the league average being scored against his team. The Tight Ends are hoping that Priest can rebound from a substandard week while the Hitmen can only keep doing what they're already doing - scoring big points, lead by Torry Holt.

PhatBacks (7-4) vs. Rynos  (8-3)

***Game of the Week***  The Rynos are pulling away, but will have to beat both the PhatBacks and the StiffArms to seal the deal. The PhatBacks are in a tie for 2nd but more than 130 points behind the division leader and will probably have two win by record alone. Their running attack is in shambles despite having six running backs on the roster, every one of them is in a RBBC. Worse yet, their star WR Keyshawn Johnson has been fired. The Rynos are getting their running game in order, and with All-Star Steve McNair starting to show signs of mortality, will need good production from Marshall Faulk.

Ball Ho's (5-6) vs. StiffArms (7-4)

The Ball Ho's have one way they can get into the playoffs - points. While their team has been decent recently, their QBs have been erratic between Favre's broken thumb and Bledsoe's ineffectiveness. But with the soon-return of Michael Vick, at least Peerless Price will improve. The StiffArms are doing everything right and have won four of their last five games under the stellar performance of Daunte Culpepper.

Marauders (10-1)  vs.  Assassins (6-5)

The Marauders have clinched, and are now going for the "best record" and "highest points" awards. The Assassins are first in the wildcard race and 3rd in scoring and need to keep pouring it on to keep ahead of the Hitmen. The Marauders may have some good news as both Terrell Owens and Edgerin James rebounded from season-long slumps with great games last week. The Assassins are another team in RB hell with six running backs including 1 injured, 1 suspended, 1 potential suspension, 1 RBBC, 1 fill-in and 1 stud. That's a tough way to use your half of your roster...

Quiet Storm (3-8) vs. Gryphons (2-9)

Two teams battling for positioning in the lottery, the loser of this game may end up playing a very strong 4-th best team in the lottery bracket. The Quiet Storm made some noise last week with a season-high 80 points and has averaged over 60 points a week mainly due to the play of Chad Pennington and Santa Moss who this week are up against the Jaguars defense. The Gryphons have been frustrated with their RBs as Travis Henry has not made it into the End Zone for the past month while Zack Crockett  has been their best running back over the past month.

Week 12 Transactions

The Commissioner's  Poll

Should scoring errors/corrections be adjusted?  So far this year, there have been numerous small scoring changes, and three big scoring changes.  Two of those changes resulted in a difference in win-loss between the two teams.  These changes can be for a number of reasons - Yahoo may have incorrectly scored an event (e.g. a fumbled interception picked up by the offense should only be return yardage but is initally scored a fumble recovery for the defense, it is later adjusted to remove the +2 for the defense), or it could be an official scoring change by the NFL (e.g. a lateral "pass" is changes from a pass to a run meaning the QB loses passing yards and the RB is awarded rushing yards instead of receiving yards).

Week 12 Results

Chargers 72

SmackDownSister 39

Hitmen 82

Tight Ends 57

Rynos 64

PhatBacks 45

The Chargers lock down the NFL title with a win over SmackDownSister and a loss by the TE's.  Duce McCalister was once again their star with over 225 yards and 2 TDs.  Duce alone accounted for more than 2/5ths of the Chargers offense. The Hitmen break a 2-game losing streak and knock the Tight Ends out of the playoffs with a healthy 82 point performance.  Their top performers were their running back tandem of Ricky Willams and LaDanian Tomlinson, but their star was Matt Hasselbeck who threw for over 325 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Rynos are one win away from clinching the CFL and have virtually knocked the PhatBacks out of the race.  David Boston had his biggest game of the year with almost 140 yards and two touchdowns.

StiffArms 73

Ball Ho's 55

Assassins 80

Marauders 55

Gryphons 59

Quiet Storm 55

The StiffArms keep pace with the Rynos dropping the Ball Ho's.  They still need a win next week to be a serious contender.  For the StiffArms, David Akers kicked 4 FGs and 3 XPs while Aquan Boldin had over 150 total yards with two touchdowns. The Assassins finally win a game with a strong performance and stay ahead of the Hitmen for the wildcard race.  The two receivers for the Assassins - Chad Johnson and Darrel Jackson - accounted for over 50% of the Assassins scoring combining for over 250 yards and 5 TDs.  The Assassins were also helped by having six players play in overtime game, effectively giving them an additional start. In the battle for the ballot-seeding, the Gryphons down the Quiet Storm to tie the Storm for 2nd last place.  The Gryphons had decent days out of Rod Smith, Trung Candidate and Josh Brown who had 2 field goals and kicked 5 extra points.
