Who's going to run the ball in this match-up? These two teams on the opposite end of the spectrum are remarkably similar. The Rynos will be starting two sub-par backs as Marshall Faulk is out with an injury and Shaun Alexander is on a bye. Their starting RBs will be two "RBBC" backs Antwain Smith and new acquisition Shawn Bryson. SmackDownSister wants his RBBC tandem of Garrison Hearst and Jerome Bettis to produce and hopes the week off gave the Eagles Defense & Donnovan McNabb an opportunity to remember how to play football.

The Chargers have cut ties with Jay Fiedler and are resting the hopes to their season on Patrick Ramsey who so far this season is the #4 rates quarterback in the league. The PhatBacks will be looking for their second win in a row behind an invigorated Peyton Manning. They will still have to start Amos Zeroue and Moe Williams this week after the Chargers beat them out of the Lamar Gordon bidding.

***Game of the Week*** An important game for both teams who find themselves in 3rd place in a division with two strong competitors above them in the standings. The Gryphons added Terry Glenn to help to fill a depleted WR corps with both Jimmy Smith suspended and Amani Toomer on a bye. The Tight Ends are so far inactive despite only having two starting Wide Receivers on their roster. With fantasy MVP Priest Holms banged up and running against the tough Baltimore defense, it will be a very close match-up.

The Hitmen won their second game and took over 1st place in the NFL thanks to the Rynos win over the Chargers. They now take on the team at the bottom of the XFL. The Hitmen got quality production out of their Running Backs, but league sources suggest they will start their young Denver receiver Ashley Lelie this week after he had a great performance on the bench last week. The Quiet Storm had a close game until the Monday night meltdown by the Raiders & Rich Gannon. As Gannon goes, so does the Quiet Storm. |

Another big game, two second place teams battle it out. The edge goes to the Assassins as the highest scoring team after 3 weeks plus the StiffArms have a rash of injuries including both Clinton Portis and Daunte Cullpepper questionable this week. The Assassins will be without WR Darrell Jackson and TE Randy McMichael this week, but will probably pick up a TE before the week is out. Free agent acquisition Marc Bulger might have a huge week as his St. Louis Rams go up against the Arizona Defense. Although, Arizona did shut down Green Bay....

Going for 4-0, the Marauders will be putting a full lineup minus Ike Hilliard this week, but will probably be starting new acquisition Jake Plummer against their scout's recommendation. The Ball Ho's may be a weak target this week with a bye for Tiki Barber and an injury to Corey Dillion and Randy Moss, leaving them with only one healthy running back - Emmitt Smith. |
The big acquisition of Lamar Gordon goes to Chuck's Chargers who outbid the Rynos, PhatBacks, SmackDownSister and Marauders. They get Gordon for one year at $8 and waive QB Jay Fiedler
The Rynos, in an effort to fill the void left by Marshall Faulk add Shawn Bryson for $6 and move Faulk to IR
The Marauders add Jake Plummer for $1 and waive Thomas Jones. For those of you that know the Marauders and their love hate relationship with both Plummer and Jones, you're probably saying "yeah, it figures...". Note that when the Assassins asked my oppinion of Plummer after week 2, I said "Plummer will suck all year except for week 3 where he will be a fantasy stud giving you hope for the rest of the year. Following that performance he will average 3 fantasy points for the rest of the year, but show just enough promise to make you waste a roster spot on him." Welcome to the Marauders Jake.
The Gryphons add Terry Glenn and drop Marcel Shipp as they look to help their depleted receiving corps.
SmackDownSister drops the San Francisco Defense and adds TE Christian Fauria
Chucks Chargers also add the Cleveland Defense and drop the Atlanta Defense.
Hitmen add K John Hall and drop the Indianapolis Defense
SmackDownSister drops Robert Ferguson and re-adds WR Reggie Wayne
The Rynos add WR Eric Parker and drop the Jacksonville Defense. Ironic isn't it that the Rynos have both starting Wide Receivers for one of the league's worst passing teams... (currently ranked #20).
The PhatBacks release Corey Bradford and add the San Francisco Defense
The Assassins add TE Jim Kleinsasser and waive their former #1 WR James Thrash.

Marauders 74.3* Ball Ho's 73.9 |
The Hitmen win their third game of the year to pull 2 games in front of the Charges in the NFL. Almost all the players on the Hitmen's team did well, but Ladanian Tomlinson was a standout with over 230 yards of offense, one rushing TD and a passing TD

The Marauders come back Note: Ball Ho's did not start Emmit Smith despite the bye for Tiki Barber. Emmitt got 7 points which would have given them the win. |
* Final score to be reviewed on Tuesday night - the difference was 8 rushing/receiving yards or 15 passing yards.
