A
BRIEF HISTORY
Morelia
Tours and Travel, Inc.
a corporation located at the heart of Manila’s tourist belt was
established in the middle of 1979 to cater to the travel
requirements of Wallem Philippines Shipping, Inc., its sister
company. It was spearheaded by its Iron Lady, then President
Teresa A. Oben, together with a handful of men they strived to make
it in the travel business.
Through the years,
Morelia
adapted to the changing times and soon it became an
IATA
member in July 1981. Computers were then acquired and gradually were
geared towards automation. Twenty-six years hence,
Morelia
has grown to be a well known and multi awarded travel agency in the
travel industry.

THE MARKET
Morelia
mostly provides travel requirements to Wallem Group of Companies’
ships crew. From masterfully controlling the flow of seamen traffic
from scheduling arrival and departure of repatriating and joining
seamen to meet their docked ship, to negotiating the best fare for
most long-haul itineraries.
The company does not concentrate on the seamen market alone but also
has a
commercial division
who handles every requirement of in-house accounts. The services
range from passport processing, visa applications, and immigration
status clearances to issuance of plane tickets, booking of land
arrangements to reservation of whole packages. Not only that, but
Morelia
added to its operations a
tourist
transport services
division
to accommodate the bulk and volume of transportation bookings and is
equipped with a fleet of fully loaded coasters and vans.
Another market which we have been handling for the past 11 years is
the land-based contract workers (nurses and teachers) bound for the
United States.
