Morgan Blackflame left the castle where her master was dwelling. She had a job
to do. She was to watch over her son and report to Apocalyptic Malevolence of
what she discovers of him. She new that she could not use her powers openly for
he would detect them out right, she would have to plan this all out. With a wave
of her hand a Gateway opened before and she stepped through. A soldier that was
watching her movements shuddered as he turned to continue his watch. But unknown
to them both a another set of eyes was watching. Watching from far above on the
castle towers. A large raven flew off into the night. No one saw the glimmer of
crimson red in its eyes.
“Hey you, get over here and clean my boots! And bring me some more wine
winch!”, yelled the Lokyn guard.
The serving maid came running across the room as fast as she could. Few new who
she really was. She was new in town. More than likely one of those refuges from
Waterford. Her garments were simple. She had a brown and white woolen dress,
which also showed a little bit of cleavage. After all, most of the patrons were
men. She wore no stockings and she had simple brown shoes on. She reached the
guard and gave him his wine. She then proceeded to bend over to clean his boots.
The guard took the opportunity to grope one of her breast. And began to wale
with laughter. The maid quickly jumped back and tossed his wine goblet at him.
The goblet nail the guard in his face, and a trickle of blood began to bead
above his right eye. The guard roared with furry and lunged at the maid.
“I will teach you some manners winch. When I am through with you will wish
that you had let me grab more than what I had!” The guard grabbed her by the
hair and began to pull her out into the street. He went to the town square and
tied her down to a wagon wheel face first. Many saw what was going on and new
what was about to happen. Even the Mayor Seth Morigan new. But he also knew he
could do nothing to stop it. With the threat of Lord Kurain’s undead armies,
he had to keep the guards in town. No matter how unruly they were. One day he
would take care of it though, just not today.
“Please! Please forgive me. I am sorry. Please let me go!”
“Silence winch. I will flog you for your crime. Assault on a guard is
punishable by death! I am being lenient in that I will only flog you. The rest
of your sentence will be to become my Personal maid!”
The guard reached down and ripped the back of the garments off from her back. He
smiled as he touched her back with his hand. She would never forget how to
behave for him again. He stood back up and looked about the square. “Let this
be a lesson for all of you. We have been hired to protect you and bring order to
the swelling town. We are the Law. Never forget it!”
The guard then turned back around so that he faced the woman tied down to the
wagon wheel. He got out his Cat O’Nine Tails and shaked it about. The sun was
unusually hot today. Sweat began to form on his brow and on her back. He raised
his hand and let the Cat strike hard on her back. She screamed out in pain. Over
and over he let loose the Cat on her back. The dust on the ground was begging to
paste over with the blood on the ground. She no longer screamed or flinched. She
just lied there, not moving. The guard never even noticed. It was as if he was
in a blood lust. But then he never saw death standing by him either.
The guard’s body fell down to the ground with a quite thump. His head rolled
down the square with a twisted grin on it. Guards began to run at the figure in
the square. He had come out of nowhere. He was wearing solid white armor and had
a monstrous axe.
The guards that reached quickly feel. The first two were split in half at the
waste. Seeing this the rest of the guards began to run for their lives. Maybe
seeing this man stand up to them did it, or maybe seeing the fear in their eyes,
but either way the towns people began attacking the reaming guards. Only one
guard got away.
The man in white armor knelt down and touched the girl. By some miracle of God
she was still alive. He grabbed her in his arms and ran for God’s Temple. The
only one left in town. All others had long ago vanished. He rushed into the
temple. A priest was at the pulpit practicing a sermon. Seeing the woman, the
priest ran towards her. He began to pray over her and a white light poured over
her body. Her blood stopped dropping on the temple floor.
"I will take her to the inn. Thank you for your help. May God's grace shine
upon you." Damien left the temple with the woman in his arms. Her body was
limp in his arms. He would stay by her side to see that she was taken cared of.
For some reason she was familiar. A strange feeling stirred in him, but he
shrugged it off.
Far above the town, a large black raven circled in the sky. The deep red eyes
saw what few did. God's champion carrying the woman into the inn...
