Random Thoughts
J.M.
Joy

flickering candle
knows nothing of burned memories
only one small rage

solitary bird
winter closes in on you
come to my feeder

leave a trail of crumbs
now maybe he will find you
ready to be found

such a wilderness
as tangled words and rhythms
scramble for the lead

cat on blacks and whites
red flowers in a glass vase -
petals tremble

east sun rises pink
lacy trees across the way
bend to sleepy eyes

tired ladybugs search
for warmth in nooks and crannies
but find killing frost

tiny violas
defiant flowers of autumn
dare snowflakes to fall

brown snow on town streets
christmas lights line avenues
days short, cold nights long

pretty red flower
do you have a home for me
under your petals?

so many mysteries
rainbows trapped in garden spray
ants with their burdens

bare tree faces brick
etched gray shadow on the wall
does it know its lines?

naked curve of branch
raindrops cling to windowpane
small tree softly sways

grass wet with night rain
sleepy steps lead to flowers
born under the moon

Two Versions:
1.
flower of red moon
risen from the distant hills
blossoms in the stars

2.
bud of flower moon
risen from the fertile hills
blossoms in the stars

For Dad - November 10:
ragged northern wind
but i miss his summer face
lazy summer smile
