It's not just Another Brick in The Wall!

A Photo Documentation of the Building Extension on the First Floor of Morning Star.

This part of the proposed building (top floor extension) has been gracefully donated by Trix and Philip Wollen. This page gives you an idea of the various stages of completion. Starting with the chipping (dressing) of the granite stones around the end of January 2007 to first week of Feburary. The target of completion is around three months, with perhaps the roof taking the longest for the curing of the cement, weather permitting. The building will be personally supervised by John and Joy. I am sure that the Children will also take pride in actively participating in the building up of their future home. If I really have to write all the details, then it will become nearly 'As Thick as a Brick'!!

The Plans:
Ground and Top Floor Elevation .
Ground Floor ; Ground Floor with marked off areas that require to be built up at some stage.
Elevation showing present structure, Actual Elevation, (South view before building). Elevation showing the proposed area to be built up .
First Floor , First Floor with marked off areas showing the proposed area to be built up .

Stage I
As part of the plans to build the extension on the first floor of the Mornign Star building, a few requirements were being put into place. One was the position of 'security', not so much as 'personnel' (the dogs will do the needful), but protection from weather and scavengers. For this purpose, a temporary shed is being built to keep cement as the same would not be healthy for the children if it were kept in the building itself, due to the powder/ dust. Then a gate is being constructed, I did see the frame and expanded metal welded to an MS frame. I forgot to take a photo of the gate preparation when I visited Morning Star on 15th February, 2007. What I witnessed was the granite jelly (pieces) and some loads of sand collected during the week. There was also a collection of 1000 'dressed' granite stones (shaped in a manner that they can be placed one on top of the other similar to the background of this page) prepared the week earlier.

poles Wooden poles have also been purchased to be used as support and scafolding. Poles and more Up the Poles !
