WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE!?
The Morris Modified Register is a CAMS affiliated club which was originally created by a small group of Morris Minor Car Club of Victoria members so that they could race their hot Morris Minors in competition with other CAMS affiliated car clubs.
The Modified Register was officially formed in
June 1996 by founding members Richard Milligan, Jon Giles and Steve Locke.
We became CAMS affiliated in July 1996 and were invited to our first event
in September '96, which was the 2nd round of the Rob Roy Inter-club Hillclimb
organized by the MGCC.
Since then we have been consistently invited
to compete at many other CAMS affiliated car clubs events e.g.: MGCC -
Super Sprints at Calder and Winton / Rob Roy Hillclimbs, Sprite Car Club
- Winton Super Sprint, PIARC - Phillip Island Super Sprint, Alfa Club -
Sandown Super Sprint, Ford Four Car Club - Super Sprints at Calder and
Sandown, Victorian Mini Car Club - Morwell Hillclimb, Heathcote 1/4 mile
Drags (Modified Register annual event), Historic Mangalor 1/4 mile Sprints.
‘Sir' Mike Barker, one of our more high profile members, has even run his Group N Morris Minor 2 Door 1000 at Historic Mt. Tarrangowa and Historic Rob Roy for the last two years!
We have surprised some of the other clubs on
many occasions (and created a lot of interest too!) by posting some pretty
quick times at most of the above meetings - this is due to most of our
Morris Minors having much larger (and hotter) engines fitted to them than
Sir William Morris originally intended for the "POACHED EGG" - as he originally
called it. Some of our hot Morries have full-race MG engines (with o/drive),
Hot Mazda Rotary engines and worked Nissan 1400/1500’s with 5 speed close
ratio gearboxes - we also have two 2 Door sedans built to group N spec’s.
