House Rules
Every Chronicle has rules! These are ours:
-
NO OOC What does this mean? This means that you don't go nosing into someone's personal life. If they offer it up to you fine, but don't press them about personal things. This of course does not pertain to in-game info. NO mun names given out unless by that mun themself, a lot of the players wish to remain unknown. We don't all need to have a a/s/l check, we all know what our own age/sex/locations are.
- Important Characters Anything above Prince/Bishop will remain Non-Player Characters (NPC) controlled by Story Tellers (ST's) as needed. If you need an NPC contact MM CS ST
- Conflicts You are responsible for handling your own conflicts with other players. There is absolutely no room for anyone that needs a baby sitter.
- Posts Two posts a month minimum are requested, this shows us your active participation and wet's our pallets to know more about your character. You are here to give your imagination an outlet, feel free express your Characters concerns, his or her ideas and actions through posting.
- FREEBIES WITH MERITS AND FLAWSSince it seems there was a problem considering how to get freebies from your flaws, let me clarify. You can ONLY gain 7 points from your flaws to use as freebies. For example, if you choose 10 points in flaws you don't get all 10, you only get 7. The other 3 don't matter, they're gone, kaput, vanished. Now, if you took 10 points in flaws, and 10 points in merits 7 of those points (from your flaws) would be used in your merits. So.. 10 points in merits - 7 (from flaws) = 3 freebies extra you spent on merits. I hope this clears this up, thank you.
- When you spend EXP on your CS, you need to send in an updated CS to MM CS ST. Please write somewhere on the sheet where you spent the EXP and how much EXP you have remaining. If you do not send in your CS, and there is a dispute over an action your character makes, the ST will use the latest version of your CS on file to settle. As the motto goes. I dun have it, you dun got it.
- OOC Comments If you need to say something out-of-character, please limit it to IM’s. Other than the customary brb's or afks, along with the wb's, OOC in rooms is highly frowned upon. It distrupts play and generaly causes some to lose track.
- TOS Respect the rules of the AOL Terms Of Service (TOS). Scan your posts well, you put alot of work into them for others to read and don't want to see them pulled for TOS rule violations. As we look forward to reading your stories, make sure we have the opportunity to do so.
- Storylines If you want to jump in on a currently running story, make sure to discuss it with the current players in that story. This is imperitive. That way you can be brought up to speed on the SL and can glide into it with much more ease. Also, some SL's are closed to others, so always check to make sure your Character will fit in, and be accepted before you do time consuming RP that will have to be swept to the wayside.
- Communicate, communicate, communicate! If you have an idea, share it by sending it to one of the ST's. All RPers have great imaginations, it's what makes you a good RPer in the first place. Share your ideas, so if you by yourself can't get an SL going, maybe one of the ST's can help.
- There is no such thing as a dumb question. If you have a question, then ask! Don't expect us to be mind readers as we left our crystal ball's in our other pants and they found their way into the washer ::grins:: And no, we aren't psychic. You don't ask we don't know!
- Starting with 5's There will be no starting Characters with a 5 in anything. This includes Attributes, Abilities and Backgrounds. A 5 signifies the mastery of a specific chosen thing, and no one starts off with complete mastery of anything. Even with four we are sticklers
- All Abilities cost the same amount of points. We regard secondary abilities with the same status as normal abilities; they cost the same amount of points to aquire and raise.
- Genres Some of the various Genres of the World of Darkness will not be accepted here in Mortality Mocked for various reasons. While this list is not big, we try to fit in all of them when possible, it is still not open for discussion. We have reasons behind what we will allow and won't. For now, we are not accepting the following:
Fomori, Kindred of the East, Shifters of the East, DemonHunterX, Vampire: The Dark Ages, Wraith, Technocrats, nor Changeling.
Check back to this page often as we may be changing the list at a later date.
- Important Dice Rolls All rolls that are not done in Rooms with other players present (more than 2) must be witnessed by an ST. This also applies to ST's, this is because no one is above the rules.
The Current listing of ST's are as follows:
WW MST of MM - MST / Dhampires

Please feel free to contact any of them with questions reguarding Character Creation, house rules, or any other concerns you may have pertaining to play here in Mortality Mocked.
- No new character can fight or do any actions that require dice to be rolled until their character sheet is approved. Why is this? Your character could cause conflict in an important SL if something happens, or someone dies. Also, the storytellers have no way to know if you are rolling 'legally' or not unless you have approval. You can play just not roll dice. If it has been over 5 days (as the AMST has an offline life as well) and you have not heard from the MM CS ST, feel free to check again. AOL has been known to eat e-mail from time to time, and STs are human so we may have accidentally misplaced the sheet or thought we had gotten back to you.
- Backgrounds All characters have some type of written background so we can get the idea of what your character did in the past, what they are doing now, and what they may do in the future. Also check out the current storylines to see where you may fit in. This is roleplaying, roleplaying consists of writing, if you do not like writing, then perhaps Mortality Mocked is not for you.
- For every dot in Retainer you need to submit an NPC sheet to the MM CS ST. While you can play your NPC without a sheet, they cannot do anything that requires dice or that drastically affects the flow of the game. That's right, this means your ghoul cannot jump in front of someone if they're about to get struck. If you want to use your NPCs, submit CSs for them.
- Out Of Clan DisciplinesRemember, out of clan disciplines CANNOT exceed the level of in clan disciplines. So a Brujah with Fortitude can't have it at four, while he/she has Potence, Presence, or Celerity at one. This is as per book and, as ya see, the rules of Mortality Mocked.
- HAVE FUN! Cause if your not having fun, its just not worth it.
And on the note of 'no stupid questions,' feel free to e-mail MM CS ST with anything that you might have. As I said, if you're interested, send mail to the approprieate story-teller.
Just in case these rules are a bit too harsh for your taste, remember, it isn't personal. It's a harsh world we live in and an even harsher game we're playing.
