The Clans of the Sabbat
The Sabbat is an organization composed solely of Vampires. It is similar to the Camarilla in many respects, but has a number of special distinctions. The Sabbat is smaller than the Camarilla. It's doctrines are overwhelmingly more political and militaristic, and it is actively involved in constantly warfare against the Camarilla.
All Members of the Sabbat are free from Blood Bonds to a particular Vampiric master, though their ties to each other can be just as strong. In addition, the Sect is steeped in tradition, millenarian doctrine and mysticism. It is completely secretive, so most of what is known about the Sabbat outside the Sect is pure speculation at best. Which side a character is on plays an important role in how much he knows about the Sabbat.
Feared beyond reason by Camarilla Neonates, the Sabbat gladly plays the role of the evil bogeyman, with no horror being to vile for it to perpetrate. Of course, to the Sabbat, it's way is the right way, and everyone else follows the fool's path. Sabbat members crave absolute freedom above everything else, striving with all their might to prove they can do anything they desire. At the same time, however, they possess a supernaturally strong loyalty to one another. It is this supernatural tie which keeps the Sabbat from erupting in writhing spasms of violent anarchy. Thus the entire Sect has one giant web of loyalty spun throughout it, keeping it's members from destroying each other out of hand.
The Sabbat appears set on the destruction of the Camarilla and, once that goal has been fulfilled, enslaving the human race. However, members of the Sabbat seem capable of their own kind of virtues. They possess an intense loyalty to one another. Indeed, among more knowledgeable members of the Camarilla, rumors fly regarding Sabbat mystics, who spend their entire unlives in quests after knowledge about the history of the Kindred. Others talk about Honorable Sabbat leaders who strive desperately to keep the Vampiric world from going up in smoke. Some members of the Camarilla even whisper that greatest of heresies---that there may be much the Camarilla can learn from it's eternal enemies.
The Sabbat is seen by outsiders as a sect with no purpose other than diablerie and the spread of dissension among the youth of Vampiric society. Its members are seen as callous brutes who place no value on human or Kindred existence, and seem to love releasing the Beast during frenzy. They are entrenched in the occult, carrying on bizarre and unspeakable rituals unseen by outsiders.
The Sabbat is founded on two basic principles: Freedom and Loyalty. The Sabbat is unliving proof that the strong Survive! The Sabbat heavily bases the creation and recognition of new Sabbat on choosing only the strong and putting them through trials to prove themselves. They do not see themselves as Kindred, but as Vampires and only use the word Kindred in sarcasm. They are the apex of the food chain. They speak as if they were the true sons and daughters of Caine and continually try to convert the Camarilla Kindred to their own wild ways. All within the Sabbat are embraced by the pack and are Blood Bound to each other. Vaulderie, the giving of blood from all Sabbat members to create a new vampire, is practiced. Clan lines are often crossed to gain strength and although different packs within the Sect may arise by city, their loyalty to the Sabbat as a whole can be considered fanatical.
The mystery of the Sabbat has long fascinated younger Kindred of the Camarilla: indeed, some even join the Sabbat's ranks, never to be heard from again by their comrades in the Camarilla.
The Sabbat have fewer members than the Camarilla but it is far more cosmopolitan -- at least with regard to the lineage of those who make up its ranks.
The clans of the Sabbat often refer to themselves as antitribu or "anti-clans", having turned their backs on the Camarilla or independent clans that originally spawned them. Little love is commonly lost between antitribu and the mainstream clans -- their respective members parted ways long ago on matters of philosophy, and it appears that reconciliation is hardly possible, especially as Gehenna approaches these modern nights. Surely, the details of these old rivalries have been lost in the mists of history, but few vampires meet with the hostility possessed by the antitribu and their estranged parent clans.
Mind you, the following aren't all the clans, but most of the one's that we're accepting, and others you might see as NPCs.
~Assamite-Antitribu~
Members of this Clan are almost exactly like all other Assamites, but they have never had the Curse of the Tremere Clan put upon them, therefore the blood of other vampires are not poisonous to them. Most members of this Clan are of the Black Hand, and tend to be grim and humorless.
Nickname: Angels of Caine
Disciplines: Celerity, Obfuscate, Quietus
Weakness: They become easily addicted to the blood of other vampires, and anytime blood is drunk outside of Vaulderie, an Instincts roll against a diff of BPís drank +3 is made. If failed, he must make an Instincts roll (diff 5) every time he sees Kindred vitae. Failing this roll will send him in a frenzy during which he will do anything to drink as much of it as possible. Additionally, the character will have a continueing desire to drink more Kindred vitae.
~Brujah-Antitribu~
In a sect known for rebellion, the Brujah Clan barely stands out. This Clan is considered part of the Status Quo. Members of this Clan are identical to their Camarilla counterparts, and they work the hardest to convert Anarchs.
Nickname: Rabble-rousers
Disciplines: Celerity, Potence, Presence
Weakness: Same as their counterparts in the Camarilla
~Gangrel-Antitribu~
There are two types of Gangrel-Antitribu, the City Gangrel and the Country Gangrel. The City Gangrel are those with permanent havens, and for them the city is the ultimate hunting grounds. The Country Gangrel are those that tend to join Nomadic Packs, and are more like Plains Indians in nature than the Gypsies.
Nickname: Hunters
Disciplines: City Gangrel--Celerity, Obfuscate, Protean. Country Gangrel--Animalism, Fortitude, Protean
Weakness: As per the Gangrel weakness
~Harbingers of Skulls~
These rare and curious vampires have joined the Sabbat only recently. If fact, until a few years ago, no one had heard of them. The Harbingers present themselves as quiet and conservative, preferring to traffic with the souls of the dead rather than rampage about leaving wakes of fire, and destruction. Nonetheless, they are cold and alien, conducting murder and torture in their laboratories. All of the Harbingers physically resemble corpses themselves; their skin stretches over their bones and gives them a skeletal, emaciated appearance. They affect masks and other manners of hiding their faces for their skin has stretch so tightly over their heads that they appear as naked, grinning skulls. Some vampires attribute dark origin to the Harbingers, as their knowledge and power is far superior to any bloodline that has "popped up"recently.
Nickname: Lazarenes
Disciplines: Auspex, Fortitude, Necromancy
Weakness: Regardless of how much blood they drink, they always look deathly. All have appearance traits of 0, and automatically fail Social rolls unless obfuscated.
**This clan is VERY limited upon accepting. At this time we are accepting one, or two of this clan.
~Malkavian-Antitribu~
This group is even weirder than their Camarilla counterparts. Its members have to be watched by their leaders and kept in control. However, they seem to have particular insights into the secrets of the Sabbat and the Camarilla.
Nickname: Freaks
Disciplines: Auspex, Dementation, Obfuscate
Weakness: As per the Malkavians, but worse. Instead of just one Derangement, they start off with two.
~Nosferatu-Antitribu~
The Sabbat Nosferatu are exactly like their Camarilla brethren except for their loyalties to the Sabbat. This is the only Clan among the Sabbat that maintains relations with itís Camarilla counterparts, and often act as spies in the Nosferatu of the Camarilla.
Nickname: Critters
Disciplines: Animalism, Obfuscate, Potence
Weakness: As per the Nosferatu
~Panders~
This is a Clan of Caitiff who united to form their own organization, with their own meetings and rituals. Panders are not considered inferior to other Clans in the Sabbat (well, not openly anyways). The Clan is strong and extremely verastile.
Nickname: Mutts
Disciplines: None, as Caitiff they can gain whatever disciplines they wish longs it is taught
Weakness: None specifically
~Ravnos-Antitribu~
The Sabbat Ravnos are almost all Gogios (non-Gypsies). Most are members of Nomadic Packs. They treat all Sabbat with honor, but hate the Gypsies and Ravnos outside the Sabbat, especially the Romany Ravnos (those of Gypsy descent). They are still among the best liars and tricksters of the vampire world.
Nickname: Rogues
Disciplines: Animalism, Chimerstry, Fortitude
Weakness: As per Ravnos, Inconnu/Independents
~Salubri-Antitribu~
A recent development in Sabbat history has seen the conversion of a member of the reviled Salubri bloodline into the Black Hand. In their minds, their allegiance with the sect begins and ends with the war on the Camarilla. In the tradition of the antitribu, the Sabbat Salubri have turned utterly away from the "clan" that spawned them, regarding their progenitors with antipathy for what they consider weakness and fatalism.
Nickname: Furies
Disciplines: Auspex, Fortitude, Valeren
Weakness: Vitae taken outside the heat of passion offers no sustenance to the Salubri antitribu, nor does blood given freely. Unless the Fury takes the blood by force, drinks in the throes of undead passion, or slakes her thirst on a fallen foe, any blood points she consumes do not replenish her blood pool. Additionally, no Salubri Antitribu may start the game lower than Tenth Generation or higher than Twelfth Generation as the bloodline's vitae has yet to spread across the broader spectrum of Cainite potency.
~Serpents of the Light~
This Clan is an offshoot of the Setites. Its members are as nearly dedicated to evil, but they show loyalty not only to their Clan but to the entire sect. They are mostly Haitian, but are rapidly becoming more diverse thanks to recent growth. They are one of the smallest, but fastest growing Clans in the Sabbat.
Nickname: Cobras
Disciplines: Obfuscate, Presence, Serpentis (Thaumaturgy also comes easily to them due to their past involvement as ongans)
Weakness: As per the Followers of Set, Inconnu/Independents
~Toreador-Antitribu~
The Toreador of the Sabbat are artists, but they approach art from an inhuman perspective, refusing to pretend that they are human through their existence and their artwork. They explore both the good and the bad sides of existence, studying torture as much as they write and read poetry. Their eccentricities are reflected in both their personalities and their creations.
Nickname: Perverts
Disciplines: Auspex, Celerity, Presence
Weakness: As per Toreador, Camarilla
~Tremere-Antitribu~
The Tremere of the Sabbat are the smallest of all the Sabbat Clans, and (with the exception of the Ravnos-Antitribu), the least trusted. Itís members have developed differing Paths and Rituals of Thaumaturgy than the Camarilla counterparts. The Antitribu have been cursed from their Camarilla brethren and now bear a magical mark which can only be seen by Tremere of the Camarilla, which brands them as traitors to the Clan.
Nickname: Spellbinders
Disciplines: Auspex, Dominate, Thaumaturgy
Weakness: The Magical Brand which allows the Tremere of the Camarilla to spot them, for they have been commanded to capture or destroy these traitors to the Clan.
**This clan is very limited upon accepting. At this time we are accepting this clan.
~Ventrue-Antitribu~
This Clan is made up of true rebels. They are the least respected due to their former Clanís role in the Camarilla. The members of this Clan love to be considered rebels and make every attempt to Present that image to others. They are generally dedicated to developing their personal abilities through continued training and education.
Nickname: Geeks
Disciplines: Auspex, Fortitude, Dominate
Weakness: As per Ventrue, Camarilla
~Lasombra~
The Lasombra is the Sabbat Clan of leadership. The members of this Clan tend to be the most loyal and aggressive mebers of the Sect. Their successes in detroying most of their Non-Sabbat Clan members have all but bolstered this prestige. Although their are some Lasmobra-Antitribu ouside the Sabbat. The Lasombra are natural leaders. They rose to lead the Sabbat after the Anarch war, and was one of the sectís original founders. All but one of the Regents have been of this Clan. The Lasombra are loyal to the Sabbat, bu they also believe it is their right and responsibility to be the strongest leaders of the sect. They prefer Lasombra over any other to lead. There is less intrigue in the Sabbat compared to the Camarilla, and what little of it there is, can be found amongst this Clan. Even more than the Ventrueand Tremere, the Lasombra are masters of intrigue. Rather than erect the genteel facade of the aforementioned Clans, however, the Lasombra are openly warlike and competitive. They maintain their often tenuous control over their Sabbat brethren through a mixture of force, espionage and manipulation, often guiding the other Clanís without their knowledge. The word ìMachiavellianî aptly describes the members of this Clan. Stealth and cunning are second nature to them, to the point that thye have developed an affinity with and control of the forces of night and shadow.
Nickname: Keepers (as in brotherís)
Disciplines: Dominate, Obtenebration, Potence
Weakness: Due to a side effect of their Obtenebration Discipline, the members of this Clan can no longer see their reflections in mirrors, nor can they appear on photographs or on film. This allows them to bypass security cameras and the like, but makes it relatively easy to detect them as vampires. Many have human ghouls or retainers to groom them.
~Tzimisce~
This Clan is renowned for its evil. Among the most renowned of this Clan is Vlad Tepes, the Impaler, who split from his Clan and the sect. Tepes is especially known for his cruelt, a trait common to all of this Clan. They are also have a strong apprecitatin of learning. They are some of the most educated beings on Earth. They seek to understand magic as well as science, but have not reached the level of the Tremere in this understanding. While they are inhuman, they show it to a lesser extent than the Toreador-Antitribu, for instance. Most Tzimisce are grim and serious, noted for their lack of humor (or a twisted one at best). They are also known for the high value they place on privacy. They are the second most powerful and numerous of the Sabbatís Clans. The Lasombra are the first in that regards. However, the Tzimisce are behind Sabbat ideology, goals and planning. They seem happy to let the Lasombra take the lead in carrying out the sectís plans.
Nicknames: Fiends
Disciplines: Animalism, Auspex, Vicissitude
Weakness: Due to the effects of the Vicissitude Discipline, the Tzimisce are in a constant state of flux (they often forget their original forms over the centuries). Thus soomething deep within the Tzimisce crave stability and permanence. Thus when they sleep, they must surround themselves with at least two handfuls of Earth from a land important to them as mortals (usually their homeland or from the grave of their Creation Rites). If they fail to do this, they cannot rest in peace, and lose half their dice pools from all actions every 24 hours until down to one die; which lasts until they again sleep with their special soil once again. Many Tzimisce maintain several luxurious havens with this needed soil contained for them.
~Kiasyd~
This bloodline was created by three Lasombra in an experimentation designed to discover the nature of their Obtenebration Discipline. They captured faeries of the Unseelie Court and bartered with powerful Tuetonic Sorcerer for a substance believed to be the ìblood of Zeernebooch, a god of the underworldî. One of the three Lasombra volunteered for the experiment, a Fifth Generation named Marconius. He underwent a dramatic transformation, that affects all Kiasyd to this day. Upon the Change, all Kiasyd grow six inches to two feet taller and become thin and gaunt. Their skin color blanches to a chalk white and gains an unusual luminescence under moonlight. Their eyes take on a more oval shape and deepen in color until they are entirely black, with no color differential between sclera, pupil and iris. The cartilage in their ears, nose and cheeks seem to crystalize, becoming more angular and pronounced. Even stranger is their behavior after the Embrace. They are invaribly the most calm of he undead. They are remarkably polite, congenial and honorable. They never get angry or agitated, thought they are still quite emotional beings. They do not like to drink directly from vessels, considering it vulgar, they instead drain it into chalices/glasses, etc, and drink from them.
Nickname: Darklings, Shades and Weirdlings
Disciplines: Mytherceria, Necromancy, Obtenebration
Weakness: They have a problem with Pure Iron due the the Fae blood in their systems, being around it increases Frenzy difficulties by one, touching it causes an immediate Frenzy roll.
**We are NOT accepting this clan. Kiasyds will be used as NPCs, if at all.
~Blood Brothers~
The Sabbat continually seeks new ways to overthrow the Camarilla, and many of their efforts involve the creation of Vampiric Shock Troops. The Sabbat is also renowned for its creative uses of the Blood Bond. Recently, a conclave of Sabbat Tremer and Tzimisce gathered in an unnamed stronghold in Eastern Europe for a bizarre experiment. Their devilish plan: to refine the Blood Bond to new heights, thus creating a pack of Vampiric warrios who would effectively think and act as one. With the Tremere using their Blood magic and the Tzimisce employing flesh-altering powers, they would create an invincible army of warriors. A band of captured Caitiff provided the first test subjects. And the second. And so on. Finally, after a number of grotesque failures, a pack of fanatically loyal soldiers, with their own unique abilities related to their bond, crouched before them. This was the origin of the Sabbatís special weapon, the bloodline ironically known as the Blood-Brothers.
Nickname: None
Disciplines: Celerity, Potence, Sanguinus
Weakness: All Blood Brothers feel each otherís pain. If one is damaged, all the rest take the same wound penalties for the next round only. If more than one is hit, the highest penalty is taken. They are also Blood Bound to each other.
**We are NOT accepting this clan. Blood Brothers will be used as NPCs, if at all.
