 Healthy Beginnings

CONGRATULATIONS!
This is a very exciting time in your life. Here are some tips that can help you and your baby get off to a great start.
  • Studies have shown that women who make regular visits to their Doctor have less problems with pregnancy.
  • It is important that you  take time to take time to learn as much as you can about pregnancy and childbirth.  Read books, watch video's, log on to the internet and learn what you can about pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Attend prenatal classes.
  • Practice good health habits while you're pregnant:
  • Eat a well balanced diet. Eat regular, nutritious meals and snacks. Taking a prenatal vitamin that contains folic acid is recommended if you aren't eating several servings of fruits and vegetables each day. • Get plenty of rest.
  • Avoid substances that may be dangerous for you and your baby, such as cigarettes, alcohol, and street drugs. Do not take any medications, even over the counter medications unless you have discussed it with your doctor.
  • Exercise! Continue your exercise program that you were doing before you became pregnant. If you were not exercising before becoming pregnant, walking for about 30 minutes several times a week is a good start.
