Year 2000 Models to be sold in Jamaica

Recently, we noticed an unusual & surprising Honda Motor Bike Sales and Service advertisement in the sports section of the Daily Gleaner. We were actually glad to see this, as Motor Bike Sales is now bringing in top-of-the-line year 2000 Honda two-stroke CR (80cc, 125cc, & 250cc) & four-stroke XR (80cc, 100cc, 200cc, 250cc, & 400cc) model dirtbikes. Finally Honda is getting into the hype of Motocross, and offering some real bikes to the public. We have a feeling that two 80cc pilots that we have been seeing at the races will each purchase a CR 125 from Motor Bike Sales, so that they may compete in the 125cc class. Hopefully they receive sponsorship as well, but we dont think that will happen (not for now at least).

On the other hand, Yamaja Engines Ltd. has, for the past couple of months been carrying a few 1999 Yamaha YZ  race-bikes(80cc & 400cc). And they will, by the end of November or so have a full line of year 2000 two-stroke YZ's (80cc, 125cc, 250cc) as well as the all-new YZ 426cc four-stroke, available for sale to the public (Pw 80's & RT100's will be available also). Yamaja Engines Ltd. already has a successful, yet different type of advertisement campaign going, by sponsoring racers such as Christian Sale & Brandon Samms.

While Yamaja Engines Ltd. will continue to sponsor the same racers, they do not plan to sponsor any other riders for now. We think that is a good idea, as no one wants to see the sport totally dominated. But Yamaja Engines Ltd. must be commended for their outstanding support of this growing sport from the very beginning.

Well, that leaves Kawasaki & Suzuki to at least bring some KX's & RM's into the country so that people can purchase whatever brand motorcycle they really want. Once we have that, it will help the sport of motocross to grow to mammoth proportions.
