Motocross Demonstration in New Kingston

Yesterday, at Liguane Park in New Kingston, there was a little preview of what's to come this Sunday. We met 80cc & 60cc pilots, 11 year-old Kaven Benoit & 9 year-old Karel Benoit, who both did some impressive riding. A crowd of spectators (who have never seen such young kids on such small bikes go so fast & jump so high) formed along the road to watch Canadians Kaven & Karel as-well-as Jamaican racers John Ammar Jr., John Ammar Sr., Jared Wright & Joshua Wright as they all showed off.

Also on location in New Kingston was CVM TV, Photo hounds from X-News/Teen Observer, The Jamaica Observer, & Moto-2 Racing Online (of course). Photographers & cameramen got all the footage they could handle as riders did wheelies, doughnuts, & even preformed no-footers, no-handers & loockbacks in mid-air for all to see.

What impressed us the most was the riding of Kaven Benoit, who cleared a 15-foot gap with only a 10-foot run consistently & John Ammar Jr. who also did the same double-jump with the same short 10-foot run. Both youngsters did this on an 80cc machine (Kaven cleared the gap on a 60cc machine as well). No one else could do that jump with such technique, they all had to go approximately 50 yards back to get a big run at the jump.

Now that we have all had a little taste of the action, we can definitely look forward to a spectacular battle in all classes. This Sunday, be sure to come out to Woodleigh Raceway for the International Invitational 2000, which will no doubt be the biggest & best race-meet to ever have been held in Jamaica in recent years.
