Hi, I just got back from Korea. (ARMY) Before I left last April (98) my wife and I were visiting her family in Arkansas and ran across this bug with a for sale sign, and stopped to look. I asked her to make inquiries, and perhaps purchase, because the shop it sat beside was closed that day. I am no newcomer to the volkswagon family as I have owned 5 bugs of different model types and years. and also two type 2's. I have since returnd from Korea and I am looking for precise or close to precise information on what creation, I now find myself with? Just to clarify, it has the CAL LOOK emblems on the left and right side front panels. But, unlike other Cal Lookers, it still has all the crome. The compition type mirrors are attached to both doors. And last the rear deck does not sport the flush mounted license plate. Can you tell me if this is some type of crossbreed? Any answers would be usefull! Keep on buggin' Darryl

I am 18 yrs old. Bought my Super Beetle last June (98). I haven't had the money to restore it the way I would like to but, I have been able to do the necessary things. The sunroof was not working and would not even stay in. I managed to find one in a VW alvage yard about an hour from where I live, along with some other essential parts I needed. I have had it painted. I am now looking for some new wheels for it. When those are on, it will look just pretty darn cool. I am going to hate to leave it in a few months when I go off to the Navy after graduation at the end of May. I have a younger brother 15yrs. old that I am going to let him drive it when he turns 16. He loves it as much as I, so I know he will take good care of it. See ya!!!

I have restored 5 bugs in the past 15 years and this one is painted Make truck gree. Really looks stock and is not mealic so it won'tfade so ast and also it was done in the two step process. New fenders, running boards, all window rubbers replaced as was he carpet and interior. New windshield, bumpers, tires and brakes. Drives like new one. (only in summer)

I love my beetle. one suggestion for improvement is the cupholders need to be moved so they are not under the dash as regular size cups do not fit with a straw. That's the only thong i can find wrong with it. Significant huh! I dream in bright yellow!

I love your site. I have had my bug for about 2 years. I haven't done much work to it (except new tires, new battery). It is kinda tough driving a bug where I live because it is so windy. It feels like the car is actually picked up off of the ground a d moved to the other side of the road. Also when you pass an 18-wheeler it feels pretty freaky. tis is a very exciting page and i'm really looking forward to exploring it further but i was wondering if you could help me with a question. my father bought me a toy bettle back in the mid 60's. believe me when i say, i have never seen another one like it. it's one of those with the antenna that goes up and down. it has a sun roof. the moptor hood lights as the car moves. the motor hood pens up. the headlights also work. it's one of those cars that turn when it bumps into an obstacle. thing is, my husband and i can't figure out what year it is. i have been offered $500 for it but it is not for sale. It's still in perfect running condition and people have a hard time believing that it survived a childhood but it did. Can you help me figure out what year it is?

I've had this bug since I was 14, I'm now 17 and it's not finished yet. So far it's been lowered 1 spline in the rear and about 4" up front. Tires are 195/50R15 & 265/50R15 on 15x7 & 15X8 reversed wheels. To keep the tires covered I have 3" wider front an 4.5" wider rear fiberglass fenders. In the rear I have four '59 Cadillac taillights (original) frenched in a diagonal pattern. I haven't yet decided what to do with the front fenders. The dented and rusted hood was replaced with a fiberglass unit. Trim, ntenna, and rear vents were welded up, and a fiberglass dash cover fitted. In the works:Speedo moved to center of dash, switches moved under dash,one-piece windows, window tinting, paint ('96 Ford Teal Metallic).

I am rebuilding my dad's original 1967 volkswagon beetle from the ground up. I started from the frame and now I am currently rebuilding the body. I plan on painting it metallic blue. I am putting two 10" subwoofers and mids and tweeters in my bug. I al o plan to buy custom rims and tires for my bug. I might lower the front of it 1 inch or so. I plan on it being done by the end of the 1999 summer.

I too am a Beetle fanatic. Unfortunately, I do not have the time or money to put into one right now. I have a question. The picture of your Beetle is labelled as a 1967 model. It sure looks like a 1968 to me. My family had a 1967 Beetle when I was growing up. In fact, it was the car I learned to drive in. Ours had the 'cage' type bumpers, and the gasoline filler was under the bonnet. Did they change these items mid-year?

Most folks don't know that the early Kafer's had access panels below the split rear windows to get to the starter motor, change the transmission oil, and adjust the clutch. A friend of mine had a 1949 Standard and it had mechanical cable operated brakes. When you pulled the emergency brake handle all four wheels locked up.

My transaxle went out on the highway a couple of weeks ago, so 'Jill' is now sitting at my dad's house, and to think that I just got her sunroof fixed and missied out on the perfect cruising weather. My dad loaned me his '71 SuperBeetle. She is orange, rom california, still all original, has only small dings in front right fender and is not going to be returned to my dad. Basically I stole it and he is out a pristine piece of stock VW beauty.

I am thinking about restoring my 62 to original condition, but have know way of knowing any "extras" on that model, so i can make it look real well, or if i dont go original, i would like to know if it would be worth turning it from 6 volts, to 12?? Myself and two brothers have owned the 1973 1302s for the past 8 years now, since buying the 1963 1200 style we hoped to get motorvated cliche!! But sadly living in Glasgow Uk, the weather kind of slows our progress. Could you tell three college students f you know of any decent shipping compainies, where we could find 2 sets of fiber glass wings front and rear. Can't find any. Also would recardo seats fit on the seating mounts in our 1302s? Finally we have fitted a set of two inch spacers on the wheels, o you know of any compainies who do locking bolts of our sports wheels?
