The Ford Model Ys of 1932-37

The Ford Model Y was an attempt by Ford to re-establish itself in the British market and the first product of its famous Dagenham manufacturing complex. The model was intended as a direct competitor of the phenomenal successful Austin Seven. Whilst primitive by todays standards, it brought an innovative styling and a three bearing crankshaft - a notable refinement for small economy models of the day. Fords popularity started a rapid climb on introduction of the model Y and didn't falter until the appearance of the serious rival - the Morris Eight in 1934.
