I had a Peugeot 504 once. It was the most unreliable car I ever owned. It should never have left France without an atom bomb to self destruct it, Although in fairness to the 504, it did make a good chicken house in it's retirement. P.S. Why dont you get a real car and stop kidding yourself?

NO, I will not erase this entry...it's just an opinion...but...if it was SO unreliable....why didn't you sell it instead of keeping it until its 'retirement'? I've never been kidding about the car, it runs for around 30.000 Km every year...I'm actually an engineering student,and you can believe me, if it was as unreliable as you say 504s are, I could not afford mantaining it.
On the other hand, if the section from this website you like best is 'exiting', I wonder why you got into.

great page! What do you mean 173 is the topspeed for a Ti?! We got to 180km/h and could have gone faster if the wind was coming from behind us. (the car started to "float") My car is now 24 years old, done about 400000miles, is still going after my si ter drove it around for a year with half a litre of oil in it (about two years after it was completly rebuilt), hasn't been garaged for about seven years now (sisters have had it) and I hope to get it in next year. BIG plans.

Por la matricula de Barcelona, debo deducir que eres Español. Me alegra mucho ver que no soy el unico enamorado de este coche. Yo tuve un 504 Diesel familiar entre 1979 y 1984. El coche sucumbio en Paris, en el parc de Boulogne por un borracho que se salt un semaforo. Conociendo la chapa del coche, imaginate el tortazo !. Cuando se lo llevaron a la chatarra (y a mi al hospital), el coche tenia 263.000 kilometros, y solo le habia cambiado la bomba de agua y alguna correa. Junto con mi Seat 124 (que aun conservo con 428.000 kilometros), el Renault 12 y el Ford Taunus, creo que son los coches mas comodos y robustos que se han fabricado en la historia. Se te olvida mencionar un detalle: No he conducido ningun coche mas antiguo ni mas reciente que el 504 que tuvieran su confort y su suspension. En la actualidad poseo (e intento cuidar como puedo) un Ford Granada 2.8i del 85 (120.000Km), un Mitsubishi Galant 1.8 del 84 (84.000Kms) y un Seat 124 del 79 (428.000Kms). La joya de la corona era un Ford Taunus dos puertas de 1977, con 210.000Kms. Ahor esta al servicio de mi hermano en las islas canarias (y funciona como nuevo). Que tu coche te dure mucho ! Julio

Herede mi 504 de mi padre casi como tu.Es un modelo 1800 gasolina de 1978.Tiene 250.000 km y no ha tenido nunca ningun problema de motor.Lo unico que le he cambiado y casi con 200.000 km han sido los discos de embrague. Habria que cambiarle los amortiguad res delanteros y arreglarle la carroceria que esta un poco oxidada pero creo qa pesar de todo que nunca tendre un coche como este. Great site I have a unique 504 for Australia. Mine is a 1978 and was produced for the Australian market. I have air-conditioning, a factory fitted electric sun roof and a bauge warner automatic transmission. I have the standard normal asperated petrol engine but these cars are great for Australian roads. I have 190000 Km on the clock and I travel over 50KM to and from work every day......and It never lets me down. The only problem I have had with it is the way the air-conditioning is mounted. It has a large plate bolted on by the sump bolts and these then to break and cause the sump to loosen. Great to visit your site Mail me if you wish........I may be able to send you some pictures.
