Replacing the GTi in 1984, the GTX was the top performance Scirocco. Indeed, it was the fastest production VW at the time of launch with a 0-60 time of 8.3 seconds. Very well equipped - including the MFA computer,1.8 injection engine, alloys, central locking (electric windows later as standard) - it remained unchallenged until the 16V Scirocco was launched in 1987 (UK import only).
