The car was originally bought by my father Paul Reiss directly to
the distributor of Ford Motor Co. in Cali Colombia S.A. Messers
Autopacifico H. Aristizabal y Cia by February ..of 1953.
( see copy of the original invoice!).It has stayed in our family ever
since.
The worst times the car had i recall, were when my brother and I
learned to drive by the years of 1960 and 1969 respectivelly.
Typical problems of this car were : Overheating and gas vapor
locks, wich were cleared by installing and oversized radiator
core adapted to original water tanks, and an electrical gas pump
in paralel to mechanical G.P. with a switch to operate as
required.
Motor has been overhauled 4 times, in the life of the car,including the recent restoration repair, were we fitted a new distributor, carburator, fuel pump, oil pump, rebuilded water pumps.
Automatic transmision has been repaired 4 times,including the last disassembly and inspection for the restoration repair,needing only new gaskets and seals.(was working nice by 1990 when car was taken apart for resto).
At present time,(end of 2002)all mechanical work has been completed, new electric wiring installed,and upholstery work is to be completed by 2003
