I owned a '68 Beetle Conv while in college and could not afford to do all I wanted to with it. Finally sold it to a guy who did a really nice job on it. After about 12 years, I got the itch and sold my '98 F150 Lariet and bought a Silver '79 Super Beetl
Conv. I've had it about 2 months now and am loving it! It still needs work, mainly TLC and a paint job. I am leaning towards a two tone black and silver.

My first VW was a 1957 bug I bought out of a Cirtus grove in Whitter California for $75. It run but the 36 hp crank was broke. I fixed it and sold it to a friend for $175. He drove it for 3-years and sold it for $350.
I have owned a 1950, 1951, 1957, 1958, 1965, 1967,1970 all bugs,two Karmann Ghias 1966 & 1967,and a 1957 Transporter, I almost forgot a Meyer's Toad and a Fiat 600 with a Volkswagen motor. I am building a VolksRod as seen in Rod & Custom magazine in the 1
60's and 70's. I havn't owned anything VW for about 10 years and the 1967 Bug was my last car. It had a 1835cc motor with Webers. I was the second owner.

A friend of mine has a 1974 engine with an
alternator that has an "internal" voltage
regulator (mounted on top the alternator). The
voltage regulator is NOT available by itself in
North Carolina. I can't believe you have to buy
and install an entire alternator/regulator combo
when the blown regulator would take less than
5 minutes to replace. Any suggestions would be
much appreciated. Thanks! -Mike
