THE STORY OF THE SUBARU 360 DRIVERS' CLUB

The founder of the club, Ed Parsil first purchased a Subaru 360 in 1975, a van, when gas prices were going up. He thought it would be practical. He ran into the same problems that other 360 owners did, the availibility of parts. He ran an ad in Hemmings Motor News, and found other 360 owners and vehicles. By 1979 he had contacted about 25 360 owners across the U.S.

With Ray Hilofsky he started a 4 page newsletter. The original dues were $2 one for each cylinder!

The club was chartered, and remains today, as an all volunteer association of past, present, and prospective Subaru 360 owners. It's mission was simply "to keep our favorite vehicles on the road and running on both cylinders".

The club was officially organized in 1980 with 87 charter members in 31 states with 140 360's. The first newsletter came out in November of 1979. As of December 1997 we now have 272 members in 43 states and 4 countries including Japan, where they are gaining almost a cult following.
