The Renault Logan is due only in the first quarter of 2007. This car will play a significant role in shaping the future of the Indian Auto industry once it's released in the market. Hence, I have felt the need to include a review despite the fact that I have not test driven this car yet. Renault Logan is a simple but rugged looking compact notchback sedan developed for the emerging markets. Logan's styling is conventional but still cleverly modern looking, utilizing the "tall body" design to maximise interior space. It's a smart design that makes the competition look visually stodgy and overly blobby.

The Renault Logan slots neatly into the Indigo-Ikon-Accent class. The compact dimensions and simple construction of the Logan make for a relatively light curb weight of 925 kgs. However, the most remarkable feature of this car would be its pricing which to say the least would be nothing less than sensational. Renault Logan isn't a third world vehicle, since it has been developed with the same research and technology used for the next generation of Nissan Micra and rides on a well-sorted strut and torsion beam layout. Another point to note about the Renault Logan its ground clearance: although it isn't an off road vehicle, it has 155mm of ground clearance to deal with unpaved backroads, a common occurrence in areas where roads are poorly maintained.

With more than enough room for five passengers, Renault Logan is a massive step in the right direction towards achieving chart busting sales figures. The interior design looks solid and the layout straightforward. Even for a truly budget vehicle, Renault has inserted some mock-aluminum trim to brighten up the Logan's center console. Instrumentation and a rebadged steering wheel help to bring the look of the interior up a few notches on the classification scale. In total Mahindra-Renault has a winner on its hands.
