The Brickyard

We went to the first Brickyard 400 which was held August of 1994. I had planned a year in advanced and to get tickets you had to send in a postcard and they drew names. I couldn't believe on Christmas Eve of 1993 when I check the mail and there the tickets were....We were going to the Brickyard!!!!

One thing I was sooo excited about is that the Indianapolis track is only about 6 hours from home, instead of the minimum of 10 hours that we usually drive to a track. But after our time at Indy, which I would not trade the experience for nothing in the world, I think I would much rather drive the extra hours to go somewhere else.

Track rating: 3

Basically we hated it. You can't see anything but about 100 foot of the track. We were on the front stretch at the head of pit row. We did go to practice on Friday and sat in turn 2, which you could see the cars coming out of turn 1 thru turn 2 and down most of the back stretch.

Ease of access in and around track: 8

Everything is really easy to find, the track itself, trailers are right near by......

Ease of parking: minus 1 million

Again this sucked. If you wanted to park near the track we are talking the "vultures" were wanting $45 a pop to park your vehicle FOR ONE DAY!!! You could park your car in someones back yard atleast a mile from the track, where you are packed in like sardines, so no one can leave until the last one that parked shows up, for the amazing bargan price of...$20. Now for those of you that may have never gone to a NACAR race at other tracks.....PARKING IS FREE!!!!! CAMPING IS FREE!!!! (Some places you can pay to park in someone's yard, but that is for the silly people who just like to spend money). LinkExchange
