The
first thing you will notice is the color. Mint Green from head to
toe. The second thing you will notice is the custom kit with massive
flare in the front and rear. And if you're lucky enough, the third
thing you will notice is the pair of blinding bright H.I.D. lights that
illuminate those dark roads with ease. Whatever you notice or whatever
order you notice them in, doesnt matter. This 1998 Acura Integra
GS-R is no stranger to the import scene. Brian shows his car off
several times a year at events such as Hot Import Nights and the renown
San Diego Import Showoff. His car can be seen on the 935 draggers
website, and cruising the streets of the Inland Empire. For all of
you begging for the scoop on this Minty Showcar, I begged Brian to provide
you the 411 (actually I just annoyed the hell out of him).
In
August of 1999 Brian was the first of his kind. It was rare for a
car to have a full kit and paint, let alone the massive flare that this
car boasts. JT
Autobody in Rosemead fully fabricated the trick custom body kit with no
flaws. They added a full three inches of flare to the rear to make
way for the C-5 Evo's. They also took care of the color, with Mint
Green DuPont paint. The color is like no other. Most of your
daily import cars are fitted with the many brands of body kits available,
such as Wings West and Erebuni. These kits are then painted to match
to the color of the car. But Brian ran the full nine yards, and then
some, by investing into a custom kit with a new paint job to make the entire
car stand out. If this car was white it wouldn't even come close
to the styling statement is currently displays. Brian is also a big
fan of JDM. His OEM Type-R headlamps are directly from Japan, and
are set in place with the aggressive front clip to provide a daunting look
when seen from head on. Nothing about this car is ordinary, and everything
about it is unique. Deep vents seat themselves in the hood of the
car, while more vents complete the look on the side flares. Stylish
side mirrors with aerodynamic functionability add the import look to an
already handsome looking car. This car possesses a tenacity
unseen in even the most exotic cars. The Integ rips at the road with
its sticky Toyo 235/35ZR18's which wrap a set of very highly favored one
piece White 18" Racing HART C-5 Evolutions which match the Mint Green paint,
perfectly. The flare on each side helps the wider C-5's to settle
within the body. There is nothing worse then a good set of rims sticking
out past the body like a mexmobile. Props to the latinos, but there
simply isn't room for that type of style in the import scene. The
rims are large which means little sidewall; definitely a clean look.

Eibach
Sportline lowering springs bring the car and its body work 1.7" closer
to the ground, to provide a more stable stance on the road. There's
a modest amount of wheel tuck, but the important thing is that there is
no sacrifice in driveability. The main problem with cars these days
is that they are so low to the ground, they practicality sit on top of
speed bumps and steep driveways. Brian cannot afford to slow down
for little dips in the road while delivering your pizza hot, fresh, and
in under forty minutes. The wide gaps between the spokes of the C-5
Evo's proudly display the set of crossed drilled rotors at the front and
rear and help to rapidly cool the rotors and avoid dangerous brake fade.
The
rear is a differently story in itself. The spoiler is truely extraordinary.
Possessing the combat look mixed with a little bit of touring style and
MTK juice, the stacked spoiler and its LED lighting are fitted with side
wings to bring them together in both structure and style. Skyline
R32 rear tailights are custom molded into the rear kit to make even slowing
down or stopping a tight look in itself. It also warns all of those
regular import cars that, "Hey man, I'm slowing down, so you best be as
well." The interior is only mildly modified with the mindset that
body work should be emphasized. You
wont see any obnoxiously big tachometers of shiftlights, but just a few
modest upgrades such as a shift knob, Type R floormats, Clarion head unit
and Del Sol seats. Under the hood is the same story. An iceman
intake capped with a K&N filter are the sole mods to an already potent
1.8-liter Twin-Cam VTEC engine. The cat-back exhaust system is brought
to you by the non-english speaking company, Tanabe (visit their website
if you want to know what I mean) . Exhaust is smoothly discharged
with the deeply tuned G-Power Medallian. "I've been on the quest
for obtaining H.I.D.'s since I first saw them on Mercedes SL's, back in
the day." Brian knew he needed to finish the treatment with the illuminating
power to bring daylight to those dimly light highways and roads that he
often cruises on. This
brought him to a Philips H.I.D. kit which provides illumination through
a pair of projector lights for unparalleled clarity and uniform illumination.
Maybe you'll see this car some time soon, but with a different owner.
Although this car is a definite keeper, Brian has future plans to obtain
an MR2. One would think that it would be hard to part with such a
car with so much time and money invested into it, however, Brian's eyes
are already set on his San Diego racing MR2. He's already purchased
the set of HIDs bulbs for his Toyota, and plans to go full out HID for
both headlamp and foglamp. If you live in the Inland Empire, next
time you see daylight in all of your mirrors, its likely you're being tailed
by Brian in his street racing, turbocharging, rice burning, Toyota MR2.
