The first thing I noticed was the fact that the radio and the two 4" speakers SUCKED!!!. They were the first things to go. Me and my friends would ride around and laughe at my sorry a$$ stereo. For X-mas that year my parents bought me a Audiovox tape deck and two 6" speakers. Alright. After studying the instruction manual and ordering a wiring harness from Crutchfield. I hooked them up. Even though the speakers just sat in the back seat, it sounded great.
But wait...I have a radio that has four sets of speaker wires...hmmm...so i went and bought (don't laugh) two household three-way towers. I customized one of the towers so it would hold both of the 12" subs. Then i hooked them up to the radio. It worked sort of. It had some bass. Kinda. Not satisfied with the performance i decided it was time to learn how to install an amp. So i went to the Exchange (the military wal-mart) and bought a $189 Prestige 500 watt. I learned the hard way that you need to buy the wiring seperatly. Now i was ready. After learning that you need to keep an amp without fans cool i moved it from my hatch to a cooler place. (I've had it there since and not one problem). Now i had bass...what next...I know a new and better radio. Not sure how much later it was but some time had passed. I bought a Pioneer. I decided to fill the empty holes left by the long gone 4" speakers. I got a pair of crappy a$$ Kickers. They are still there but they distort a lot even with bassblockers.
Next thing ya know i blew one of the paper coned subs. Hmmm. I got money, I got no subs, so i went and bought a pair of Pioneer IMPP 10" in a bandpass box. Nice!!! Loud!!! Perfect!!!
Well as time would have it, one 6" died. Time to replace. Went and bought a pair of Pioneer 6"x9" and decided to put them in the rear deck. Perfect...until one of the subs blow. No prob, it is under warrenty. They mail it off and after monthes and monthes and monthes (six to be exact) they said here, take abrand new one. Cool. So now i have two subs the don't match. I decide to hide them and paint the plexiglass window. Looks nice.
The final piece to the stereo was the 12 disc changer by pioneer i added. That is all for the stereo because i got bit by the IMPORT RACING BUG...
