Doggie Biscuits

2 cups of whole wheat flour

1/4 cup cornmeal

1/2 cup soy flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup sunflower seeds (or GrapenutsŪ or Bran BudsŪ or oatmeal)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/4 cup molasses

2 eggs

1/4 cup milk (Liquid, not powdered)

Next, preheat your oven at 350 degrees F. Mix dry ingredients. Add oil, molasses, eggs, and milk (Eggs and milk to be beaten together first). Add more milk as needed to make a firm dough.

Roll the dough out so that it is a 1/2 inch thick and cut into shapes (We have a special dog biscuit shape that we use). Bake on a cookie sheet with oven at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes or until biscuits are lightly toasted. (Note: To make biscuits harder, leave them in the oven with the heat turned off for an hour or more.)

Doggie Biscuits #2

1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)

1/3 Cup margerine

3/4 cup hot water

1/2 Cup Powdered Milk

1 egg

3 cups whole wheat flour

In a big ole bowl, pour hot water over margerine. Stir in powdered milk, salt & egg. Start adding the flour, 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Knead 3 to 4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make a very stiff dough. Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thickness and cut out with cookie cutter. (We used Bottle caps when our puppy was a pup. We have switched to great cookie cutter shapes like hearts, rabbits, doggies, dinosaurs, people, stars and of course alphabetic letters (great for teaching how to spell)) Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes. Allow to cool and dry out until hard. Makes a 1 1/4 pounds.

Doggie Biscuits #3

1/2 cup cornmeal

1 3/4 cups whole-wheat flour

2 tablespoons garlic powder

2 tablespoons Knorr intant beef stock mix or their vegetable or chicken stock mix

2 tablespoons bacon bits

6 tablespoons oil

2/3 cup water (approx)]

Mix together well. Roll out to approx 1/4 inch thick and cut out with either your Christmas cookie cutters or use the dog biscuit cutter. Bake 350 deg oven for approx 35 - 45 minutes, basting with meat drippings or bacon fat.
