Famous Cats

 

MR. MISTOPHLES was the black cat with magical skills from the "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S. Elliot.

The famous musical "CATS", produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and based on above-mentioned book, is the longest running musical ever performed in the West End of London. The premiere took place in the New London Theatre on 11 March 1981 and has been performed ever since that day in 13 different countries and has been translated into 10 different languages.

In the 20th Century Fox movie "Alien"(1979), the orange striped cat named "JONES" played one of  the two survivors of the attack on the Nostromo-ship.

The grey cat named "PEPPER" who lived in Hollywood was a real old-timer. He played next to famous actors such as Charlie Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle and the Keystone Kops.

"PYEWACKET" (a Seal-Point Siamese ) won the Patsy Award for his role next to Kim Novak, James Stewart, Jack Lemmon and Ernie Kovacs in the movie "Bell, book and Candle".

"RUMPLED" and "AMBER", two Abyssinian sisters from Hollywood played Jake, the stranded cat from outer space, in the Walt Disney movie "The Cat from Outer Space"(1978).

"SALOMON" a long haired Chinchilla played in movies like "Diamonds are Forever" (James Bond) and "A Clockwork Orange".

"Syn Cat", the star from the Walt Disney movie "Syn Cat", played also in the movie "That Darn Cat".

In the movie "The Incredible Journey" (1961) the Himalayan cat "TAO" went on a long adventurous trip together with his (doggy) friends to look for their boss.

"TONTO" took a journey throughout America with an old widower from New York in the movie "TONTO" (1974).

"ORANGEY" a sensational movie- and television cat, debuted in 1952 with the movie "Rhubarb" and won the Patsey Award in 1952 and in 1962. This orange cat also played in "Gigot", "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and in the television series "Our Miss Brookes.

"WILLOW", a Blue-Point Balinese, is to be seen in "Blue Peter" a BBC-television programme. Previous the Seal-Point Siamese "Jason" and the silver tabby's "Jack and Jill" were to be seen in aforementioned show.
