Welcome to the home page of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Brigadier General J.J. Alfred A. Mouton Camp 778, of Opelousas, Louisiana.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans is a historical, hereditary, non-political organization formed in 1896.  It is made up of male descendants, 12 and older, of Confederate Soldiers, Sailors and Marines who served honorably during the War Between the States, 1861-1865.  It is dedicated to preserving the memory of these men and ensure that a true history of that time period is preserved for future generations.

The Mouton Camp, a member of the Louisiana Division of the SCV, was chartered in January 2001 and serves Opelousas, St. Landry Parish and the surrounding area.  It has been very active in educational programs, Confederate headstone cleaning and dedications, Confederate Memorial Day ceremonies and parades among many other things.

The Mouton Camp meets every third Monday of the month at 7:00pm at the Palace Cafe, located in downtown Opelousas next to the parish courthouse on  East Landry St. Our meetings are always open to the public
