Mamma Mia!
What's Bad
- the stupid story (a bride-to-be invites three men to her wedding because one may be her father)
- the mother's two friends: lush Tanya (a bored and confused-looking Christine Baranski) and butch Rosie (a scared and haggard-looking Julie Walters)
- potential father #1 (a bland and homely Stellan Skarsgard)
- the pained vocals of potential father #2 (Pierce Brosnan)
- incompetent newbie director Phyllida Lloyd (whose images are choppy, uninspired and amateurish)
- the beautiful Greek scenery you never get to see
- the absurd timeline (if fathered by a hippie in the turbulent 60's, the bride should be 40)
- producers Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson (whose contribution clearly did not merit much thought)
- the juvenile choreography
- the uninviting chorus
- the inane ending
What's Good
- the bride (refreshing soap actress Amanda Seyfried)
- the groom (baby-faced up-and-comer Dominic Cooper)
So-So
- the mother (a poorly aging Meryl Streep)
- lonely and possibly gay potential father #3 (a sombre Colin Firth)
