Well, unfortunately for this movie, I saw The Thomas Crown Affair before I saw it.  The two stories are extremely similar.  Guy is a thief, girl is supposed to catch the guy stealing art, girl falls for guy and doesn't know whether to turn him in, he falls in love with her and doesn't know whether to go through with it.

The reason why this is unfortunate for this movie is because The Thomas Crown Affair is a much better movie.  Now, I don't want to sit here and tell you why Thomas Crown is good.  If you want to hear about that, then read it's review.  I'll just tell you the good and bad things about Entrapment.

Ok, there was nothing really good about this movie. The gadgets were ok, it was predictable, but nothing real special.  Most of it was just kind of blah, entertaining, but nothing really note worthy.

This movie earned it's two stars simply by the people in it and their acting skills and few well planned stunts for theiving.  The movie is very predictable and formulaic about a heist.  The two stars have virtually no on screen chemistry.  Also, Sean Connery is given many scenes where he stares longingly at Catherine Zeta-Jones, however she is given none where she does the same.  It makes the audience wonder when she fell for him.

The characters are completely shallow and one dimensional.   Motives for ALL characters are muffled and poorly written.  The movie, instead of relying on creative scenes like The Thomas Crown Affair, relies on little gadgets to make you go, "Ohhh," but that reaction is an overstatement.   Nothing is too impressive.  Wow, there are lasers they have to get around, wow they repel down a building, wow there's an eye scanner for security.  Et cetera, et cetera.  The writers obviously believe that by throwing these complex gadgets into the movie that the audience will forget about the poor quality of the story.

Also, there are some unbelievable parts to the story even when you exclude the over-done and ridiculous escape scene.  One is why does Catherine Zeta-Jones believe that Sean Connery, who has never met her, will automatically agree to steal with her.  If he is such a high profile thief, I would imagine that he would be a little less trustworthy of people who want to work with him.

Now some movies can rely on the high-tech gadgets to pull the audience in.  However, this one cannot because all of it has been told before and there are no creative ideas that impress the audience.  Two movies that came to mind were Mission: Impossible and True Lies.    Of course there are plenty more with heists and gadgets, all of which seem to have done a better job than this movie.

So, to sum up.  This movie fails in story, creativeness, and the chemistry of the leads is lacking.  This movie still is an entertaining idea.   Theft, trickery, high-tech thrillers usually are.  Don't look for anything real original or impressive though, just rent it when you're bored.
